5.0 out of 5 stars His solo debut, Mar 15 2003
By John Sposato - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Peter Gabriel 1 (Audio CD)
Originally released fall 1977, in Japan by Nippon Phonogram, and the U.S. & Canada by Atco. Reissued 2002 by Virgin Japan, Geffen here. I actually have the UK LP, reissued in the '80s. This one you don't find everyday. U.S. releases are too easy. We collectors search far and wide. If you're a bigger collector of Genesis group and solo than me, you may get this import as well.
I first heard this on tape, found it lying around somewhere, then got the U.S. LP so I's have more info, but the UK LP was a godsend since it magically appeared (not really of course!) yesterday.
This is his first on his own after leaving Genesis and taking a couple years off. He forms a sound that's almost like the old group but then pushes forward toward something different. Eventually, he becomes, as he told Rolling Stone in 1987, a "seperate entity with seperate tastes".
