It's worth the money spent,
By
This review is from: The Phantom of the Opera (The) (Audio CD)
I had the pleasure of seeing the Broadway play in Toronto in 1991 twice. First with Rebecca Caine in the role of Christine and then agian with the the AWESOME Sarah Brightman when she made a specail guest appearance. Both Rebecca and Sarah are power-house vocalists and they both played the role to the hilt. Emmy Rossum while she is young sounding is well suited to the role of Christine and she does the role justice. She has youth on her side and that is the way that Christine is suppost to be played young and fresh. The Phantom in the movie soundtrack is not as vocally trained as Colm Wilkinson or Michael Crawford. But the more I listen to Gerard Butler I have to say that he's easy on ears and once you get past that; he fits the role well and plays off of Rossum beautifully. Patrick Wilson is a pleasure to listen to all together. He breaths new life into the role of Raoul. He is the perfect foil for this production's Phantom. The orchestra is absolutely spot on with the music... It gave me chills listening to the lushness of the music. I can't wait to see the movie so I can hear it in surround sound.

I love the music. I didnt realise, however, that this cd is the entire movie, not just the music. It is rather annoying to skip parts of the tracts to get past the talking, but I still like it.
