Product Description

A young man with no memories fights to salvage his humanity when he’s forced into a life of murder by a dangerous crime syndicate called Inferno. The organization gives him a new name, Zwei, and molds him into a perfect killing machine, a meticulous instrument of death created to obey his masters’ every deadly command. Zwei’s not the only puppet controlled by Inferno; Ein is a girl as beautiful as she is brutal, as lethal as she is lost. While mafia violence escalates around them, the two assassins grow closer, and Zwei begins the struggle to reclaim his past and save Ein from a blood-soaked future.

Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom is an incredibly gripping anime full of action, romance and philosophy. For those that want a rather short (for an anime) but complete story, then this is a perfect package. I personally enjoyed the many themes this series explores and just the right amount of action as to not make it boring to watch. Watching the protagonist Zwei grow was another major part as to why I loved this series. His character alone, makes the series worth watching because of the way he develops and becomes an assassin. However, once he gains the skills of an assassin, Zwei has so much more to learn which is shown throughout the rest of this amazing anime.

Requiem for the phantom is one of my favorite anime series and getting it for $20 felt... well amazing haha Considering most anime series go for $60+ for just one season makes this feel even better. Either than the ugly green spine(which is reversible so don't worry) the S.A.V.E editions are definitely worth it. Got my package 3-5 days after ordering with pretty much standard packaging and the item came in perfect condition just as advertised. This series is a must watch for any anime fan and I definitely recommend this if you are thinking of purchasing this product.

A violent story. Not for kids necessarily. If you like Cowboy Bebop you will like this one. THERE IS NO HUMOUR but it is a good drama. Some unusual twists in the story. All around good entertainment.

HASH(0xa70e342c) out of 5 stars Weapons the Arcs Nov. 28 2011

This anime series covers 26 episodes and presents itself through 3 main arcs with some lapses of time occurring between the arcs. The series is a spy action thriller with a deep story that will keep you engaged in this world of mystery and discovery. Twists and turns in a world where the main character is on a quest of identity, self, love, strength, and just about a dozen other things. All the characters feel real and it was just a series that I really enjoyed. I tend to refer to this anime as the modern setting of the anime Claymore. There is not connection between those two anime but I feel like the are on par quality wise but this series isn't as mystical and is better off in the area of plot. Also, I'm not sure what the other reviewer had mention about this being the first season of two. As far as I know this is the only season and it is worth buying. If there is another season let me know!

I will be buying this without a doubt, an amazing anime not to mention having it in both bluray and dvd is without a doubt an added plus. I can't wait!

HASH(0xa70e3c00) out of 5 stars This is one that will stick with you! An amazing series. May 10 2012

It took me a couple of episodes to get into this series, and it's not one I'll soon forget. It has some of the most memorable - and tragic - figures in Anime. No giant robots or wizards, demons or aliens. This is the story of professional assassins, brainwashed and brutally trained into their profession. We stare with Einz and Zwei, then later add Drei. All three are high-school aged kids, and all are the best at their profession. This is realistic, sometimes heart-wrenching, usually action-packed animation. It's similar to Ghost in the Shell in it's look and feel, only set in modern times with modern weapons. Mob bosses using specially trained assassins to keep other mob families in line. We have unrequited love, brutal assassinations (some are pretty shocking), world-class animation and voice actors, and is one of the best I have seen in ages.

The ending - the real ending - is in the final credits, and it's a shocker. Is it open ended? Not really, but I suppose a third season could be produced with appropriate explanations, although these would border on the unbelievable. You'll find yourself cheering for these three assassins, and when they inevitably have to face off against each other, you're not sure who to cheer for. On the other hand, all are cold-blooded killers, so why cheer for any of them? Because you grow to like these psychopaths.

Many of the other main characters in this series are emotionally broken, cold and calculating, manipulative - you name it. When a character meets his or her end, it's often a total shock, but done masterfully.

Do yourself a favor and get this series. It's amazingly well done, from the knife fights to gun battles, hand-to-hand to - well, you name it.

HASH(0xa70140fc) out of 5 stars Possibly 2011's best action anime series DVD Jan. 28 2012

Anytime you put assassins, treachery, angst and possible romance in a storyline and DO THEM ALL EQUALLY WELL, you've got yourself a winner my friend! I bought this series as soon as it dropped and I absolutely loved it. I already bought the Phantom OVA that was released years ago with just a few episodes and this is basically a better re-telling of that story.

I NEVER compare anime to manga from 2 different series- (#1 it's not the same art form #2 you shouldn't compare moving art to still art). Another reviewer compared Phantom to a title that was released 15-20 years ago, criticizing this series. Comparing one title's anime to another title's MANGA is just plain bad reviewing.

This anime falls in the same category (I guess) as Noir, Madlax etc., but those can't hold a candle to this series. It has way better production quality. It was masterfully animated, excellent English dub, kick-ass action and plenty of likeable characters. The musical score made my heart wrench. Do they have an OST CD?? I wonder.
The ending, as anime sometimes does, isn't FULLY a true ending which leaves it open for a possible continuation. I hope like hell this is the case- I've already watched the whole thing twice.

While everyone's entitled to their own opinion, I have difficulty seeing anyone rate this lower than 4 stars. It's not perfect, but it's damn close. It gets a 9.5/10 from me.

This is a great show for those who love the anime Noir, (made by the same people) its very suspenseful. This show has lots of surprising twists that will keep you on the edge of your seat. You can't go wrong with the price either, $35 for 26 episodes and its Blu-ray/DVD combo pack.
