"Phil Gordon is one of poker's premier players and has few peers as a teacher of No Limit Hold'em. I would hate to have to compete with anyone who accesses the information in these pages."
-- Erik Seidel
"Poker: The Real Deal was the best introductory book ever, and this is the perfect 'graduation' book. It provides the key to leaving solid amateur play behind and embracing the first inklings of playing like a true pro. I now feel endowed with that intangible element of strength known as unbridled confidence."
-- James Woods
"Phil Gordon and his Little Green Book made the difference between me losing money and winning money. It made me a winning player."
-- Hank Azaria
"If I cared about poker at all, this would be the book I'd buy."
-- David Foley
After fifteen years of keeping notes on the things he's learned, the greats he's played with, and the celebrities he's taught, Phil Gordon has poured every single thing he knows about No Limit Texas Hold'em into this little green book. Taking a page from Harvey Penick's bestselling book of golf wisdom, Phil plays the role of both teacher and student, offering up insightful tips on how to think about poker and how to develop a singular style of play. Through philosophy, psychology, strategy, math, and the knowledge gleaned from playing poker with everyone from T. J. Cloutier and Phil Ivey to Hank Azaria and Ben Affleck, Phil breaks down the game into enlightening instructional tidbits and illustrative anecdotes that inspire the kind of persistence and motivation necessary to improve your game.
A book to rank with Doyle Brunson's Super System and David Sklansky's The Theory of Poker, Phil Gordon's Little Green Book deserves a spot on the shelf of every serious student of the game.

This review is from: Phil Gordon's Little Green Book: Lessons and Teachings in No Limit Texas Hold'em (Hardcover)
The book offers some solid poker playing. Phil Gordon shares his views and plays with the reader, but most of the time, the reasoning behind different plays remain unclear. Nevertheless, the book is likely to contain numerous useful tips for beginner/intermediate players.

This is a very good book to read for a beginner.I am not saying that a more experienced player will not benifit because he/she will but it is very easy to read and understand that a beginner will be able to get alot from the first read.It has alot of hand examples which I think is very important.I think he is quite clear that this is his way of playing and he is a winner but doesnt say that it is the only or best way to play.I enjoyed the book alot and will read again.

This review is from: Phil Gordon's Little Green Book: Lessons and Teachings in No Limit Texas Hold'em (Hardcover)
This is a good read with short llittle snipets of information. I think that Phil Gordon has someting to offer the beginning player as well as the advanced player. He has one section in the book the "MATH of poker". Phil Gordon has a very quick and simple ways to calculate pot odds and chance to win with one card to come and two cards to come. This is so simple but really will help you make those difficult desisions on the turn and river. Over all I think this is a good investment in your time and dollars.I highly recommend this book to any player.
