Great book for new Hold'em players,
By
This review is from: Phil Hellmuth's Texas Hold'em (Mass Market Paperback)
This is a great book for those who already know the basics of Hold'em poker, but want to get right into the strategy for successful intermediate play. Most of the advice given by Phil Hellmuth is pretty standard, but good nonetheless. My game improved a lot just by being more patient (like he suggests) and playing mostly the types of hands he recommends. But be careful, being too conservative doesn't get you far enough in poker. You have to be willing to take risks, and this book doesn't delve much in risk-taking stategies. Overall, the reading experience is great, very fluid, and you will feel like you can't get enough of his tips and anecdotes. Great first poker book. Once you "graduate" from this book, move on to Full Tilt Poker's Tournament Strategy, written by a bunch of poker all-stars, you won't regret it.

To bet or not to bet,

This review is from: Phil Hellmuth's Texas Hold'em (Mass Market Paperback)
I found Hellmuth's book very helpful in my poker strategy. I love the way he describes players as animals. He gives away way too many secrets. The only discrepancy is in that he talks about both limit and non-limit Hold'em with the playing strategy completely different. But keeping that in mind, his book yields invaluable information for poker buffs everywhere.A fascinating book for novice and advanced, amateur players. Now look-out! I have pocket rockets and I know what to do!
