4.0 out of 5 stars Photoshop CS5 Quick Start Guide, Jan 27 2012
This review is from: Photoshop CS5 for Windows and Macintosh: Visual QuickStart Guide (Paperback)
It is a good book and was a requirement for my Photoshop course. Personally, I would recommend Adobe Photoshop CS5 "Classroom in a Book" as being a better study guide - especially if you want to learn it on your own.

5.0 out of 5 stars What an overhaul, July 11 2010
By Software Maniac - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Photoshop CS5 for Windows and Macintosh: Visual QuickStart Guide (Paperback)
I've purchased Adobe 3rd party books over the years and I'm not sure if this was the intention, but the Visual Quickstart Guide for CS5 appears to me as a complete overhaul. Beautifully laid out, easy to find stuff, and even the screen captures (which are a big part of the book) are extra large.

Just wonderful. I wonder if the other upcoming Visual Quickstart Guides are overhauls too?

I had to get this book for a computer graphics:imaging class I'm taking at university of baltimore. The book was to be used as a reference book for us and not necessarily a textbook. I find it very easy to use. It is especially helpful when at home doing an assignment. There's no teacher at home to ask a question so just go to the index and bam you can find what you generally in two chapters (one maybe indrotucing the tool or function and another demonstrating it in a more complex piece). It's a good book overall.

2.0 out of 5 stars Photoshop CS5, Feb 2 2011

Product Title: Photoshop CS5
ISBN: 9780321701534
comments: I own about a dozen Peachpit software books, and was totally
satisfied until I recently purchased the above, in which I am very
disappointed. Years ago I bought 032121353x "Photoshop CS" and since
that time the program has been substantially expanded, yet you shrank
586 pages to 444, brutally shortened the index, omitted all reference to
Automate, Actions, Tools, etc. and really put topgether something whose
"CS5" title is a false pretense. I will not bother returning it, but am
sorry I bought this book, and will certainly avoid Peachpit products in
future. What on earth was the publishers' idea in shortening a reference book into
uselessness? Is there any parallel in technical publishing?
