Book Description

Nov. 13 2012 0321884833 978-0321884831 1
This book (for Windows and Mac) breaks new ground by doing something for digital photographers that's never been done before–it cuts through the bull and shows exactly "how to do it." It's not a bunch of theory; it doesn't challenge readers to come up with their own settings or figure things out on their own. Instead, it tells readers flat-out which settings to use, when to use them, and why. This book gives the inside tips and tricks of the trade for organizing, correcting, editing, sharpening, retouching, and presenting photos like a pro. Readers will be absolutely amazed at how easy and effective these techniques are–once they know the secrets.

This book covers:

-The real secrets of how the pros retouch portraits
-How to color correct any photo without breaking a sweat
-How to use Camera Raw for processing not only RAW photos, but JPEGs and TIFFs, too!
-The sharpening techniques the pros really use
-How to deal with common digital camera image problems, including removing noise and avoiding halos
-The most requested photographic special effects
-All the brand new features of Elements 11, which offers better ways to manage photos, map images, share memories, use templates, and easily create pro-quality photographic effects

And the book's secret weapon: It also covers slick workarounds, cheats, and some fairly ingenious ways to replicate many Photoshop CS6 features from right within Elements 11.
-And much more!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent for the average photographer Nov. 8 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I waited until Elements offered most of the facilities provided by the full Photoshop editing package.
This book does exactly what it promises for the average point and shoot photographer.
The worked examples are very easy to understand.
I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to get the best from their digital photograhs.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great book Nov. 5 2013
By John T.
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I enjoy Scott,s style of writing. The information is very good. I have read it twice but skipped the section on Organising Photos. That part does not interest me, would like more info on making selections. The selection with the lady with flyaway strands of hair was very interesting, just hope I can achieve the same success. I will probably buy The Missing Manual by Barbara Brundage as I find it more comprehensive. I am a senior and find it hard to learn, but enjoy trying. I would recommend Scott and Matt,s book for the content.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good book July 27 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
The software is becoming unnecessarily complicated, and they are making changes for the sake of change. But that's not Mr. Kelby's fault and he has once again given me some valuable guidance.
