Ravishingly Beautiful Music

Based merely on my desire to hear this music, without listening to any samples as this had been out of stock for several years here I found and purchased this release from Amazon UK used at several times what its now available here. My efforts were and continue to be abundantly rewarded with some of the most elegant music I've ever heard. Without knowing anything about The Ambache I give them full marks for this sometimes achingly beautiful performance but I found the following remarks on the Ensemble's web page;
"The Ambache, an eminent group of five on this disc, play it all superbly well, the crowning duo of Ambache and Crayford in the beautiful Six Pieces rounding off a highly enjoyable feast of unfamiliar music." Christopher Fifield, Music Web
"Wonderful playing from the Ambache. You can sense the players' enjoyment of Respighi's rich textures, and technically they are completely reliable. The recorded sound is first-rate. This one is a very definite winner, and I recommend it highly." Fanfare

Never hearing a Chandos CD to sound anything but excellent I wouldn't hesitate adding this to your Chamber Music Collection.
A dimly lit late evening relaxing with this music could wash years of care and stress from your spirit. Its wonderful.
