Here Clara Rodriguez has a brilliant performance of an unique repertoire: a set of compositions for the piano by Teresa Carreño, an iconic venezuela pianist and composer from the 19th century. Carreño shared style and tendencies of european composers of her time like Chopin or Liszt, with pieces full of beauty and virtuosism although, her music is not well known by the general public. This treasure is a must have in the music library of piano lovers. Thanks to Clara Rodriguez, we discover these musical jewels that otherwise would continue resting in the darkness.

Clara Rodriguez plays these pieces very well indeed. So much so that at times they are almost too perfect, timing and execution bang on the money, right where you want it. I may be sounding a little critical here, but I shouldn't be. She genuinely gets into the swing of these pieces and carries them off with flair and attitude. I have nothing but praise for her performance, a lovely series of dances and pieces that charm. The recording is of excellent quality, the piano is very clear and enjoyable.
