Awesome, as always., Feb 15 2010

A few quirky, weird, funny and sad (and scary) tales written and illustrated by Dave McKean. About half the book is in color, and the other half in bw and grays. Very good paper, very very good edition all in all. If you read "Cages" you know what you're getting, and even if some of the stories are very simple, the images are so perfect, so beautiful, so amazing (yes, I am a huge fan) that they alone are worth the price of admission... Truly one of the most innovative comics creators out there, this is for anyone who likes the see what an incredible range the comics format actually can encompass.

What should I say about Mr McKean?
I am a huge fan of his work since I was 14 yrs old.
And, here I am now; 31 ... reading Pictures That Tick ... reading and floating
in that dreamland of mixed media, weird narrative, mixed metaphors.
The street is quiet, Ash fell asleep, and I wonder what can happen next?
Some drawings reminds me of Picasso, some of Schiele, but in the end it's McKean.
And, he brings us some short cuts, cold and warm expressions, b&w drawings and lines that binds those strange and real worlds.
It's rock 'n' roll and I just can't wait to see part two!
