Kids will LOVE it,
By
This review is from: Pippi Longstocking TV Series (DVD)
I purchased the DVD for my kids. Having grown up with the movies that were played in the 70 and early 80, I thought that the stories would be great for my kids. I did not know that the movies were actually hacked together from a TV series. Now that I have seen the DVD, which is only the first 6 of the series, I really wish that the rest would be brought out on DVD. More episodes would be great since we watch these at least twice a week. My son CANNOT get enough of it.The dubbing, although different that what I remember, is fine. And since the DVD is for the little ones, they don't care what I remember from the TV movies :)

They Could Have Done This Better!,
This review is from: Pippi Longstocking TV Series (DVD)
Me and my friends were big fans of the Pippi movies in the 70's. I have always known that the movies were made in Sweden and had been dubbed into English and that the dubbing wasn't really the best but I still loved the movies but I was very surprised when I found out that this was originally a Swedish kids TV show and that they actually took episodes from the show and edited them together for American theatrical movie releases and now the TV shows have been put on DVD and that's nice but it has been redubbed by people with British accents and I have absolutely no problem with that but I was very disappointed that they felt that they had to change things. Why did they have to change Annika's name to Anna? It's not like Annika is a name that is unheard of in the The U.S.A. and The U.K. it's not hard to pronounce either and is actually a beautiful name and I also think that on the DVDs they could have also included the original Swedish language track with English subtitles. Personally I would just rent this and hopefully a new DVD set will come out with a Swedish language track and English subtitles and new English dubbing where they don't make unnecessary changes and Annika will be called Annika and not changed to Anna! And I hope to see the American Theatrical movie versions put on DVD too! I grew up watching them and would love to have them on DVD!

(...) THE NEW DUBBING IN NOT RIGHT!! I LOVE PIPPI AND THE WHOLE CHARM OF IT WAS THE BAD AMERICAN DUBBING!! I WAS SOOO HAPPY TO FIND OUT THEY FINALLY RELEASED ALL THE PIPPI'S ON DVD BUT THEN I HEARD THE NEW DUBBING AND WAS VERY UPSET AND DISAPPOINTED.. I SOLD IT IMMEDIATELY AND LIVE ON WITH MY PIPPI VHS TAPES!! THEY SHOULD HAVE MADE IT SO YOU HAD A CHOICE OF AMERICAN, BRITISH OR SWEDISH.. I MEAN THEY HAD TO HAVE KNOWN THAT TRUE PIPPI FANS WERE GONNA BE UPSET!!
