My dog has been recently diagnosed with a difficult disease called pancreatic insuffiency. I purchased this book hoping it would help with diet, supplements and general information. I was recommended this book online as supposedly it would help my dog. I am disappointed - only has about 1 page regarding specific dieases - sort of encyclopedia like. Good book if you are looking to improve a dogs health before disease or early in a dogs life (prevention). If looking for help with diet and supplements for a specific disease I would recommend Home-Prepared Dog and Cat Diets by Donald R. Stombeck.

Great Reference tool,

I firt learned about Dr.Pitcairn's when my Rottweiller had arthritis. Simply following some of the recipes included and giving him some of the suppliments suggested and my old boy's coat became soft and shiny as a puppy's. I am convinced that the recipes included in this book improved my dog's final months. It was discovered through different x-ray angle that he was limping because of a cancerous tumour. I now have a new pup, and everyone is amazed at how soft his fur is. He is a happy healthy dog, thanks in large part, to supplimenting his food with the recipes. I wouldn't follow ALL of Pitcairn's advice, though, (like not giving your dog vaccinations), but the reasoning given do give us something to think about. The homeopathic treatments explained should compliment traditional treatment well.
