A Winner!!, Jan 25 2002
This review is from: Place Called Home (Paperback)
A Place Called Home is a winner, written with humor, style and grace. Cody is a keenly-eatched, hard-working hero devoted to his family -- from his precocious 12-year old adopted sister to the crusty farmhand turned cook/housekeeper. Shaye (heroine) oscillates between confidence and wistfulness in a manner guaranteed to touch readers' hearts. With genuine warmth and laughter, Judie Aitken establishes a strong sense of place in A PLACE CALLED HOME -- a spot well-worth spending time. (Review from Romance Reviews Today (on-line website).

A Place Called Home review by Kay, Jan 8 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Place Called Home (Paperback)
Ms Aitken writes so descriptively that the first few pages have you feeling exactly what Cody Butler feels and that is just the beginning! This book is one of those that you don't put down until it is finished and then you read it again. The characters step off the page and into your living room to delight you with their attempts to avoid each other, out manouever their families and their friends and accomplish their financial and personal goals. As much as I enjoyed Shaye and Cody (showers will never be the same, again), the other characters were so much fun that you want to know them better, too. Anyone who enjoys romance will enjoy this wonderful and entertaining story by a very talented writer. I can't wait to see her next book! When will it be on the market, Ms Aitken?

Aitken shows her diversity with another great romance, Nov 22 2001
This review is from: Place Called Home (Paperback)
Cody Butler has a problem. With his mortgage payment due and his cattle herd down with a virus, he may be forced to sell the home and lands that have been in his family for generations. When he agreed to meet with a potential buyer's lawyer, he didn't expect a woman to show up, let alone a beautiful one. Shaye Frazier's meeting with the final landowner standing in her client's way of creating a huge preservation didn't exactly go as she'd planned. She didn't expect to be so attracted to him, nor did she expect to fall for the handsome part Cheyenne cowboy. If you are looking for a well-written and engrossing romance, look no further than A Place Called Home. Judie's love of her Native American heritage shows through in her writing. She portrays real emotions through her characters' plights and circumstances, and weaves heated tension and desire between Cody and Shaye. Cody's struggle with trying to save his land, be a good influence to his young sister and his growing desire for the lawyer woman show Aitken's talent in keeping the story interesting with revolving circumstances. Shaye is a strong heroine to match Cody, which makes the heated tension all the more realistic without going too fast. Shaye's character has struggles of her own between her loyalties and her increasing feelings for Cody. Don't miss this next book by Judie Aitken. It's a bit different than A Love Beyond Time, but this just shows her diversity as a writer.
