I bought this book for a plant taxonomy course. Could not recommend a better book if you are struggling to understand meanings/usage of taxonomic characters (which are crucial if you need to ID a plant). Tons of illustrations, as the book title implies, and all are very helpful. Great book!

This book is great; it has pictures for every plant taxonomy term I've come across so far, and very clear definitions. The front section is organized like a dictionary for all the words, and the back section is divided into subsections specifically for leaf and flower terminology. I would reccomend it to anyone who wants to use taxonomic keys.

Plant ID involves so much unfamiliar (to the layperson) terminology so that using just a field guide is often overwhelming. This is a great complementary book that is easy to use (alphabetical listing of terms, numerous diagrams) and understand. It is also thin and light, so it will not add excessive weight when carried in the field.

Very good visual and textual descriptions of plant parts-essential to working through a plant key. I recommend it for my college plant id lab.
