As seen on public television stations nationwide, a revolutionary new approach to playing non-classical music on the piano.Have you ever wished you could play the piano? Well, now you can! By focusing on playing the melody with the right hand (one note at a time) and simple chords with the left hand, Houston gives you the tools you need for a lifetime of musical enjoyment. Best of all, your tour guide to this adventure forces you to have fun along the way!

About the Author

Scott “The Piano Guy” Houston’s background combines a degree from Indiana University with over twenty years of experience in the music industry. From teaching to playing professionally to managing a music publishing company, he has been a part of many aspects of the music world. Realizing that most students do not aspire to become concert pianists, but rather want to enjoy being able to sit down at a keyboard and play their favorite music, he has taught hundreds of thousands of students successfully at universities and colleges and through his public television series and specials.

5.0 out of 5 stars i loved the book, July 16 2004
By A Customer
ok, i chose this book cause i thought i didn't need to touch the chords etc like other ways

when i looked at the chord section, i quickly turned back

don't get me wrong, i've been trying to learn music theory for 6 years, but i never understood it, as i only remembered enough to pass the test (in fact, i got a 60%).

BUT

when i turned back, i saw the page of that chapter, and it said something like: you might turn back on the sight of this chapter (lol) but just remember its always here and you'll need it eventually

i actually read the chapter about chords... and i was happy... cause it wasn't that bad afterall... and now i'm happy... i'm not finished with the book.. i only finished the chords part... but i'm already very happy, and this IS the first time i've commented after my 10 years of internet using.

i like this book period: it really is for someone who wants to just play the piano in a flash, like me, lol

1.0 out of 5 stars it is a letdown..., July 17 2005
By A Customer
I was disappointed in the book. It's an easy read and believable but I think Scott should have included a chapter of music pages. I
also think that it is put together cheaply; i.e. the paper quality is poor.
I would not advise anyone to buy this book.

1.0 out of 5 stars Seen it all before., Jun 15 2004
By Jose Martinez (Baltimore) - See all my reviews
The information in this book outside of a bunch of bad jokes and a writing style that treats the reader like an idiot has appeared in books written before this one. The Piano Guy lifts what it wants out of other books and adds nothing new. It is a poorly made book unusable at the piano. Basically if you MUST buy this nonsense I strongly suggest a used copy as you will not be adding to his pocket from a work copied from others.
