Product Description

Features faster-than-wireless speeds and easy connectivity. The Plugable USB 2.0 to 10/100 Network Adapter adds a Fast Ethernet (RJ45) capable port to any supported system. It uses the ASIX AX88772 chipset for widest possible compatibility. Note the adapter is not for network enabling USB devices, rather it's the other way around - it's a USB device that adds a fast wired network interface to supported computers, consoles, and mobile devices running network-capable operating systems. The unit features a compact external design. Two LEDs monitor power and link activity. Powered by USB (no external power adapter needed).

Compatibility

Drivers built in -- no driver install required -- on Windows 10 and 8, Surface Pro 1/2, Mac OS 10.7 and newer, Nintendo Wii, Wii U, Linux 2.6.35 and newer, ChromeBook, Chumby, and some other systems. On Windows 7, Vista 32/64-bit drivers are automatically provided via Windows Update. Windows XP, 2000, ME, and 98SE require driver install via download or included disk. Mac OS X 10.5 - 10.6 drivers via download. Source code/driver available for Linux kernels 2.6.9 - 2.6.34.

Not supported on ARM-based Windows, including Surface RT and Surface 2. Not compatible with Apple or Amazon devices. See plugable.com/products/usb2-e100 for an updated list of compatible Android devices. Not compatible with Samsung, HTC, and LG tablets and phones.

Performance

Wired Ethernet via this adapter provides faster and more reliable network access than typical 802.11 wireless networking (up to 2-3x as fast). Particularly helpful for web video, downloads, and streaming.  Useful to replace a broken network port, participate on multiple networks, or give virtual machines their own physical network connection.

The description stated it has built in support for the wii and wii u and is cheaper than the official ninendo lan adapter. Works perfectly and have yet to have a problem with it yet.

Works exactly as advertised, which is to say it works great. I got this Pluggable ethernet adapter to use with an Acer C720P Chromebook where WiFi is not available but wired ethernet connections are, such as lecture theatres or meeting rooms. There are no additional drivers required on current versions of Chrome OS, support for this ethernet adapter is in the kernel. Plugged the adapter in and it worked. Seems speedy, too. The unit itself is nicely made and the vendor sends out an email with helpful information to get started whilst you wait for your order to arrive (to download drivers for some platforms, for example). All around, an excellent and well-designed user experience.

Used it on my Wii U, and it works flawlessly. I simply plugged it in and was set. By all accounts it works on the original Wii as well.

If you're a Wii U owner who's on the fence about shelling out 20 or so bucks for this product, I say go for it. The difference in speed between a wired and wireless connection on the Wii U is enormous, as the Wii U does not support the faster 5ghz wireless connections. It's also great to have around the house if you have a laptop that lacks a traditional ethernet port, and your wireless signal decides to get spotty.

Since the order is fulfilled by Amazon, the shipping is quite speedy, especially if you're a Prime member.

TLDR; it does what it sets out to do, is easy to use, and is worth the money.

Use - For Wii u
Smash Bros online played unbearably with the lag. This product works seamlessly.

My prebuilt PC has the luxury of having a 50$ network adapter to avoid the connectivity issues with my router being on the opposite ends of the house. Unfortunately for my Wii W ,with the confirmation of a html 5 speed test, it was having low, fluctuating speeds. I am now getting 7.5-9.5mb/s average compared to 2-4 from Wii U wifi. Unfortunately it looks like the wii u cant do over 10mb/s over wired.

I Plugged in the adapter to the Wii U, connected it to my pc via Ethernet and went into the control panel on my pc and enabled sharing on my wifi. Then go into the Wii U and set up the wired connection and you're done.

This cable works perfectly as advertised, I've had no troubles with it. The build itself is quite nice as the cable is really thick and I doubt there would be any wear and tear in the near future.

Great product. I received it a day and half earlier than promised ! Installed in less than a minute of a Windows 8.1 pocket PC that was running on WiFi. I installed the drivers a couple of days earlier with the link provided in an email from Plugable. Now that's customer service !

After installation, the download speed doubled, to 95 Mbits/sec (9.5 MB), compared to Wifi 802.11n. If you want anything faster, you'll need to get Plugable's Gigabit USB to LAN adapter.

Excellent value overall. $20 well spent.

I am using the Wii as our Netflix client box for our old tube TV, and I wanted a better network connection than Wifi.

So I bought this little doohickey, and hooked it up to the Wii on one side, and a power-line networking gizmo on the other.

It works fine, the power line connection seems to be getting about 50 Mb/s, but that's enough for the SD video we are pushing through it.

As far as gaming is concerned, we don't notice any difference, we were never into any network centric games on the Wii.
