4.0 out of 5 stars Serves Most of My Needs May 15 2010
Format:Paperback
I like this dictionary for several reasons. It is fairly lightweight and portable. The print is large and bold and thus easy to read in poor light. Most of all, however, nearly all the words I try to look up are there. Nothing is more frustrating than to try and read a book in Italian and to have a dictionary that does not contain half the words. I have not had any trouble with the pages falling out with repeated use. Nearly all the paperback dictionaries will do this eventually for the most part.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best dictionary for Italian students, for the money Jan 12 2012
By Alice Tesla - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This is the dictionary I recommend for my students (I teach Italian). The Pocket version is almost as comprehensive as the Concise Oxford-Paravia Italian Dictionary (which I recommend if you are a more serious or advanced student) but the Pocket comes in paperback, which makes it both lighter and cheaper. It also provides the syllabation for the Italian words, which many pocket dictionaries do not do, but is absolutely essential for language learning. It doesn't fit in your pocket, literally, but it fits easily in a large purse or a backpack. Especially if you can get a used copy, you cannot beat this quality for the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Valuable but not "pocket" size July 1 2012
By Thomas R. Massart - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I used this dictionary in conjunction with Italian Grammar Drills to assist me with my Rosetta Stone Course, all purchased from Amazon.com. I found a dictionary, a course book on Italian Grammar, plus one of the translations sites available over the internet enhanced my ability to grasp what Rosettta Stone was trying to teach me (trying to remember the irregular verbs was driving me crazy) plus the definition of some of the terms on Rosetta Stone were easier to remember when I could see it in print.

The dictionary is fairly complete although there are some words you won't find due to the size limitations of having translations both ways included, although it is still a pretty thick book and you'd have to be Andre the Giant to call it "Pocket" sized. It also includes a language structure section which is helpful if you don't have a grammar book available.
2.0 out of 5 stars It's not the product I don't like, it's the way it's advertised April 29 2013

In my opinion the product description should clearly say that it is an Italian-English dictionary NOT an Italian dictionary. It's probably not bad for Italian-English but this is not what I wanted.
