This book is so amazingly useful I have 4! I keep one at work, one in my tool box, one in my desk, and one on my bookshelf.
They are filled with everything you could ever need to know (almost). From math and science equations you thought you would never use after highschool, but were wrong. To long distance calling info such as all the country codes.
It's not as good as the internet in my opinnion. It's better!

At the time when most publishers go racing on how fat a book can they make (someone ought to start suing for strain injuries :-), this gem brings the light back to our hands. It shows that is is possible to pack enormous ammount of information, and even use quite a lot of pages, and still retain all qualities of the small and light format.
Imagine the wonder of O'Reilly redesigning and publishing a few Nurshell books in this format, or CRC converting a few math and science references, or the ex-Wrox XSLT Programmer's Reference seeing the new printing ... I'm sure everyone who bought this book would have at least one more to add to this list.

I can't say enough about this book. I somehow got a used copy, and I was hooked. Everything from planetary data to solvents to area codes to logarithms to the most comprehensive conversion table I have ever seen... Even the sections that you will probably never personally use are entertaining, and there are footnotes and asides throughout the book that give it personality as well as functionality. Order yourself a copy. You won't regret it.

This book, although a bit aged, is an excellent reference book for those ratios that aren't programmed into a calculator. Some items, such as Airline Telephone Numbers seem out of place, but the core content is excellent. If you are a mechanical or electrical student or contractor, this book is almost necessary.

keep this in your bag/briefcase/car.
you're the life of the party, no doubt - you can answer ANYTHING.
...and if you're at all involved in construction, it's indespensible.
(and if you're just curious about everything, it's really hard to put down!)

I have had one of the first edition copies of this book in my toolbox for years. When I showed my new third edition around, I had to order back for 6 more copies. I am back today to order four more. Everyone who sees it wants one. That says it all.
