This book is great for introducing new topics, branching into KWL's or other similar activities... However, the topics (science specifically) are pretty limited and leave you wanting more. I think language and social studies are much more heavily covered in this book.

There are many poems in this book. And many of them have to do with specific subjects. But, they certainly don't teach anything. The kids must have some knowledge of the topic prior to reading the poems and even then some of the language is very difficult.
