A 90's actioner,
By
This review is from: Point Break [Blu-ray] (Blu-ray)
A fun film, it screams 'early 90's action film'. But I LOVE 80's and 90's action films. this film has some really good sequences, some good chases, good robberies, overall it entertains where it promises it will. Minus some big glitches.[SPOILERS] The problem with this film, is that it rushes through the blossoming friendship between Bodhi and Johnny. They hang out once or twice, then all of a sudden Johnny can't shoot a guy wearing a mask who he only SUSPECTS to be Bodhi. Then he decides to go sky-diving with Bodhi and his friends, when it's obvious that Johnny is an FBI Agent (I figure this is supposed to mean that even though a lot of evidence is pointing towards them, that Johnny hopes they're not guilty so bad he believes it.) Then the movie really falls flat in the last scene. Everything that Johnny has been through, accused of and so on. He would most likely have lost his badge and even arrested, but we find out that he wasn't. Then when he finally tracks down Bodhi and captures him, HE LETS HIM GO! Simply to let him surf a giant wave that Johnny is certain will kill him. Surely enough, it does so Johnny throws his badge away, then it ends. I think it was supposed to show how close these two have become, but the film really failed to show them bonding to the point where Johnny was willing to sacrifice his career and possibly his freedom for Bodhi. Minus one * for rushing through the friendship. Minus one * for the ending. Giving it *** for the rest. It's worth a watch but just know it has some weaknesses.
