Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
This game is a lot better than I had originally imagined it. It's not without it's faults though.

First let's just say that if you're expecting another game like the main series [ie; Gold, Silver, Ruby, Sapphire, Diamond, Pearl, etc] then you should just stop with those expectations. This game is a dungeon crawler through and through. A pretty good one at that.

You're a human, who gets turned into a pokemon. Your memories of what happened are gone as well. You then join up with your partner who talks you into joining an Exploration Team as Apprentices so you can gain leads on what happened to you.

You go into randomly generated dungeons and perform various missions. Ranging from escorting a Pokemon client to a designated floor safely, to delivering an item to a Pokemon on Floor 'x'. There are also days where you have to guess the footprints of a pokemon. You get hints toward the answer and earn points.

After awhile you gain the ability to take on members to your group. After you defeat an enemy in a dungeon then they can ask to join your party, or even some clients will offer to join up. You can take 4 pokemon into a dungeon at once.

You of course level up, gain abilities just as normal pokemon games. Pokemon get progressively difficult as you go further down a dungeon. You can assign a quick move to where you hold L and push A to use. Otherwise you have to open the menu on your turn to use a move manually. If you don't use a move, your attacks are significantly weaker and cost no PP. You also gain less experience if you just mash the a button. So managing your Moves and PP is a must if you wish to progress quickly.

You take a personality quiz at the beginning of the game to determine which of the Pokemon you become. You can cheat and look online for tips on how to get the Pokemon you want. You get to choose your partner though. The personality of that partner is the same regardless of who you pick though.

There's tons of content which unlocks as you go along. You can use Friend Codes to rescue friends or be rescued by friends. What that means is that you don't lose your money and half your items. See, when you faint in a dungeon you lose half of everything earned. If you send out a help message a friend can save you from that. However, you can't do anything until they rescue you.

You can also connect via Wifi to download some extra missions. Which can be removed at anytime.

The music is fantastic.
