People, I have every guide since Red and Blue and I must say the ignorance is appalling. Yes. The older guides had a pokedex but that was back when there was only 250 pokemon. Gold/Silver even came out with a SEPARATE guide that was ONLY the pokedex. Generation 3 came out and the Emerald book had only a regional dex as well as Fire Red/Leaf Green. Fire Red/ Leaf Green had all 386, but it stopped giving detailed dex entries after the first two generations. They then came out with a 10th anniversary guide which complete dex entries for all of the first three gens. After gen 4 we had 493...can you REALLY blame them for wanting to put the dex in a separate guide? LOOK AT THE SIZE OF THE PLATINUM GUIDEBOOK. Do you REALLY WANT to be carrying something like THAT around with you just to reference the game? With the now 710 Pokemon, you'd have a guide twice the size if you included both regional guide, post E4 AND a COMPLETE pokedex. Yes I agree that it should be released at the same time but come on. This splitting has been going on for 3 generations of guides. RSE, FRLG, DPPt, HGSS, BW, B2W2...if you can't see a pattern by now, then I'm sorry. I can't feel sorry for you wasting your money on something you should've seen coming. But to all those whiners...this isn't the first time they've split the dex from regional guide. We'll see how they do with Volume 2. BTW I am also not happy with the size reduction -_-

Sure, you can probably get all the information on the internet, but there's still something to be said for having a physical book in your hands. My son will read these from cover to cover (which has helped a lot with his reading skills, I might add). Great for your little Pokemon fan (or your grown up one too!)

Delivery time was awesome but I was a little disappointed in the book itself.
PROS: hardcover, came with cute pokemon cleaning cloth, walkthrough was pretty detailed with handy maps of caves and things, tips for berry farming and breeding.
Cons: no pokedex, no walkthrough or even mention of things you can do after the game, which personnally is my favourite part. No mention of anything past the elite 4. Want to know how to obtain all those legendaries or locations of all those mega stones? You better look it up online because this "official guidebook" wont tell you.

At first when I got it I was sad because It doesnt have any pictures of the new gen 6 Pokemon
however the amount of information that comes with this and the detailed walk through is fenominal.
The sprite art is nonexistent as well but like I said its still pretty useful.
Overall If your thinking of purchasing this based on the Info and secrets through the game then I suggest it
but If your wanting to purchase it for new pokemon pictures and Gym leader Character Art then
I wouldn't and wait until Game freak Releases the Game Book.

The guide did not include information on post game excursions, nor did it cover even half of the official artwork for new Pokemon. However, TM locations and other fun details were useful for getting through everything before the Elite Four.

It is great to know where things are and what pokemon you need but to know the pokemon you need the Pokémon X & Pokémon Y: The Official Kalos Region Pokédex & Postgame Adventure Guide: The Official Pokémon Strategy Guide to finish it up.
