I could do without the condemnations, May 27 2007

I wish that some of the medical books with their condescending language, and holistic approach to fixing everything (i sadi everything....it can fizx some things but not all) could read their own advice and see if it makes since. Pg. 51 for example- trade soft drinks for fruit jucie. Pg. 52- trade fruit juice for vegetable juic....why didn't you just say so the first time.
Otherwise, I like this book. It has a lot of good info, broken down well. I just have issues with tone....like because you have an issue- it automatically means you are lazy....
Excersize chapter starts off by saying....well, you probably hoped I was not going to bring this up......Disgusting! A lot of PCOS women DO have fit bodies, and excersize regularaly. I could use with out the negative implications when I chose this book, so I am trying to make the right decision, and yet get punished by negative tone. It's what makes these books unattractive.
It even advises to be careful when walking or running alone at night....thanks for the free advice....
Considering that to know you have PCOS you have to be atlreast old enough to have a menstral cycle- well, the book is just written like she's talking to a 5 year old.
It's disappointing that there is good information mixed in with infuriating condemnations.
I am giving it a three - just because she does mention other alternatives, and she talks about Metformin- something missing from a lot of texts on PCOS.

There are a number of books out there on PCOS which are chock full of useful information...this book was not one of them. I didn't find much here that wasn't already in a number of other books.

This book was what I was looking for. Written by someone who knows what I'm going through and it was filled with hope about fighting PCOS the right way.
