5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Word Game! Mar 12 2013
By LLD
BOOKWORM ADVENTURE -- who knew there was a game even more fun for us word worms than Bookworm? The student I mentor who has autism discovered it, and wow... we boh enjoy so much! It's kind of the word game experience of regular Bookworm with a dose of World of Warcraft thrown in -- AND it has an added attraction of exposing the player to Greek Mythology, Ancient Egyptian culture and what have become traditional Western monsters, like Dracula and Frankenstein.

I am SO DISAPPOINTED IT'S NOT AVAILABLE FOR MAC, NOR FOR KINDLE!!!! If anyone knows who to write to about this, please put it in your review, I will be checking.

By the way, the star of the game, Lex, The Bookworm, really grows on you. He is a charmer and a truly special pal.

not sure whether or not to purchase, since used to older version. Took getting used to, but enjoy the diversion very much. Best of all is the quick and easy way of shopping via net that got the game to me, via Amazon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for adults, too! Jan 6 2009

I bought this for my grandson for Christmas. Not only does he love it, my other grandchildren play, too, even my 4 year old. When they leave, it's my turn. English has always been my subject, but this game is riveting for me, too. There are different types of word games to play, besides creating words. Visually, it is helpful for seniors with lessened capacity. Imagine watching the movie Shrek on the big screen, then having to read it in black and white print in a tiny book. That is what crossword puzzle books are like for me, vs the pleasure of playing Bookworm Adventures in a full color display. It keeps one's mind active to do this kind of activity. Yesterday, a friend's daughter came over. English is a second language for her. She loves this game, playing it not only for fun, but to augment her English skills. I looked long and hard for truly educational games for my grandchildren for Christmas. This one has turned out to be the best of my video game purchases.

Got to play the first 7 levels of Bookworm Adventures via another game and my 7 year old grand niece was very disappointed when she came to the end so bought the full version for her. We grew up playing scrabble to enrich vocabulary. This is way more fun! Pick from 16 tiles of letters to make words to defeat enemies, usually in the form of mythical creatures. The longer the word, the more damage it does. Kept her striving to come up with more complex words and there was a description of the mythical creatures she was battling so we started reading Greek Mythology as a by product. Great learning game!

I had been playing regular Bookworm for a long time so I decided to go further and purchase Bookworm Adventures. I enjoy the game very much it is harder to play then Bookworm but a lot of fun to play. I still have not made it to the last part but hope to make it soon - I keep coming closer and closer.
