1.0 out of 5 stars Money-Grabbing Sham Oct 5 2005
This book was a big disappointment. There is nothing that this book covers that the manual that comes with the program doesn't already cover, and it does so very vaguely. It briefly touches on everything that the program has to offer but does so in such a shallow manner as to add no depth to what the program can really do. It lacked any creativity, suggestions, or examples. There were several references to the content room which lead me to believe that the author was more interested in you spending your money at ContentParadise than creating anything yourself. I would suggest saving your money and reading the manual that comes with the program instead.
However, if you are new to Poser and dislike reading heavy manuals, this book is probably what you are looking for. It covers all the rooms and what you can do with them, but offers no inspiration and nothing that takes you into the depth of what this powerful and amazing program can really do. it only scratches the surface enough to get you started, but not enough to take you anywhere useful.

I would have given this book a -1 if there were such an option as I found it very misleading.

This book covered nothing that the manual doesn't already cover, and it does a very vague job at that. I bought this book thinking that I could learn tips and tricks that would take me deeper into the program, this is not the case.
It touches on all the features of the program in a manner that you could have done yourself with no aid whatsoever. It is no more than a gloryfied walkthrough of all of the different rooms and what they do as opposed you can do with them. There are several references to the content room throughout the majority of the book which led me to believe that the author would rather see you spend your money at contentparadise moreso that create anything yourself. This book is a big disappointment, save your money and read the manual that came with the program, you will learn much more there than you ever will in this pathetically written and ill-thought out book.
However, if you are the type of person that does not want to spend any time reading the manual, this book will get you started quickly with the basics of the program and what everything does and is used for with lots of technical pictures. Do not expect any creative suggests or opinions from this book. it is simply a users manual with less information than what came with your program and nothing more.

I would have given it a -1 if there were such an option.

5.0 out of 5 stars great! Every new user should have this book. May 9 2005

As a new user of Poser, I purchased this book to help me get up to speed. It is very well laid out, and is chock full of info for those of us who are just starting out, or, possibly, who are upgrading from Poser 4 or earlier. Although it does not address the "artistic" side of Poser, it will help the artist get to know his or her tools so that one can go on to create exciting artwork. I would heartily recommend this book!
