A great book on container gardens, tantalizing not only to the eye but to your taste buds as well.

Imagine stepping out onto your patio on an early summer morning and picking fresh mint for tea--mint that seductively weaves amongst plump cherry tomatoes just waiting for your lunch salad. Snuggled against the tomato vines are clumps of green and purple basil and spicy Greek oregano. Your eye glides over to another planter with a rogue Russian sage looming its silver spires over the succulent begonia blossoms cowering shyly. A few sunny marigolds and flaming nasturtiums snuck here and there guard your treasure against those, ah so attractive critters with big appetites.

A shimmering ruby-throated hummingbird hovering over another large flower pot catches your eye, and you are spellbound--overflowing pink geraniums and spikes of blue salvia, blushing New Guinea impatiens and pink fountain grasses...

Imagine.

Or pick up Frankie Flowers' Pot it Up, and Live it Up!

You don't need a green thumb--with a little imagination, this book will turn you into an accomplished gardener. It worked for me. And now, I'm off to pick a few sprigs of basil to sprinkle over my fettuccine alfredo. Have a great summer!

Finally, a book that includes lots of good ideas and backs it up with great information. He also uses plants that are easy to find in Ontario.

At last a book for people who don't have the "know how". I love this book and bought one for my daughter as well. It is so easy to make up a beautiful, professional looking planter. You don't have to have a green thumb or worry about which plants need shade and which ones don't. My only problem seems to be finding the plants that Frankie suggests for his planters. You would think that Bradford Nursery would carry a lot of them but I found them to be wanting last year. Lets hope they do better this year.
