About the Author

Born in Prince Rupert and raised in Calgary, Gordon Laird has written for Saturday Night, Canadian Geographic, the Far Eastern Economic Review, THIS Magazine, Outside and Mother Jones. He won a Gold Medal at the 2001 National Magazine Awards for his article “This Land is Whose Land?”, which appeared in THIS Magazine. His previous book was the critically-acclaimed Slumming It at the Rodeo: The Cultural Roots of Canada’s Right-Wing Revolution. He lives in Toronto with his wife and son.
