(REAL NAME)
There is no book quite like the Power of Positive Thinking by the late Norman Vincent Peale. This philosophy, that has instructed millions and roused controversy amongst staunch fundamentalists, is genius in it's approach to the power God can supply each of us with. This isn't a get-spriritual-quick program. But a real discipline if employed fervently. Peale takes some incredible scripture verses and makes them cornerstones in this Bible study meets personal wellness seminar. Peale was smart in that he saw that people weren't naturally spiritual, and thus needed practice. The psychology of this is actually centered around Jesus Christ and is not some new age program designed to exalt self above God. Rather, "Power" gets its force from Jesus and not our own abilities. What amazes me is the reluctance of certain Christian teachers in embracing these disciplines as a way to receive Christ and grow as a Christian. Peale does not describe it as a born-again experience, but rather a spiritual awakening of sorts. This language invites everyone, and this was all prior to the born-again designation which the media often uses as a pejorative. However, it's not neccessarily applicable to faith in other gods as one reviewer said. Jesus Christ is the undeniable center of what Peale taught. It was revolutionary, and still is-to think by using the Bible as a tool, we can be positive thinkers, better humans and grow closer to God. The Power of Positive Thinking only affirms what the Bible teaches-and makes it highly accessible for anyone seeking.

1.0 out of 5 stars Read description carefully, Mar 3 2012
I ordered this book (if you want to call it that) online, and was very excited about it.

To be getting a hard cover book for such a great price, who wouldn't be excited?

But then, it arrived. I couldn't believe it. It was a miniature book. I tiny pocketbook...

I went back to the add. Looked at the title description - it didn't say that it was tiny.

NO - only when you look at the book dimensions down the page do you get the information that it is a tiny book.

I believe this to be misrepresentation -

THE SELLER KNOWS ITS A TINY BOOK.....

WHY NOT TELL PEOPLE UP FRONT THAT IT'S A TINY, POCKET BOOK. PUT THAT INFORMATION IN BOLD - IN THE MAIN DESCRIPTION IF NEED BE. Not down the page.

Very disappointed with this purchase only for that reason.

1.0 out of 5 stars Misleading info about this book, Jan 19 2012
I was very disappointed with this book. It was not clearly indicated that it was a miniature version with just a few sentences per page. That this is not the full size book should be the first thing you noticed!!
