Product Description

A documentary by David Chernushenko Challenging where our energy comes from and who profits from it can seem a little eccentric... After all, not everyone has solar panels bolted above the doorstep. Green economy educator David Chernushenko does, and they generate more than enough energy to go around. So why can't he share it? New technologies mean that energy security is within our grasp, but harsh resistance is still being met. Debunking some of the spin of the big energy lobby, David embarks on a global journey to discover what a sustainable future might actually look like. *Honourable Mention - Planet in Focus 2011, Toronto (Green Screen Award) -Official Selection, Green Film Festival Seoul, South Korea 2011 -Official Selection, Projecting Change, Vancouver, Canada 2011 -Official Selection, Real Earth 2011, New Zealand -Official Selection, Colorado Environmental Film Festival 2010

4.0 out of 5 stars Recommended: Eye opening and inspiring doc, Dec 7 2011
This review is from: Powerful: Energy for Everyone (DVD)
There's no shortage of enviro-themed docs saturating the markeplace these days, but "Powerful" brings a fresh, genuine voice to a subject that used to be on the fringe - renewable energy. What's particularly endearing about this movie is that it really gives the "little guy" a chance to feel empowered and is an uplifting way to spend 95 mintues. It shows us what others are doing and we can do to not only save the planet, but actually make money doing it!

This isn't a D.I.Y. doc either. The film visits the U.S., Canada and Europe and examines how this renewable-energy isn't some sort of passing fad, but has been proven over a generation by the time we in North America have only begun the dialogue. From big-wig German politicians to gold-winning Olympians, the film brings together a great diversity of voices into one resounding narrative: That if we plan on waiting for our governments to save the planet along with the big energy lobby, we're all doomed.
