So, you want to be a wizard?

How do you make a magic wand? Why does a wizard wear robes? What goes into a potion of invisibility? Arch Mage Lowadar invites you to join his school for talented young wizards and explore the magical world of wizardry. In this fully illustrated guide, readers will learn all about what it takes to become a great wizard--from the gear and magic items you need to the secrets of writing your own spells in the language of magic.

I have bought every book in this series I can find, and both of my kids(12 and 7) just eat them up. Beautiful illustrations, great play ideas, and warnings about not messing with things you don't understand. We love 'em!

5.0 out of 5 stars My daughter loves this book! (I like it too), Nov 30 2011
By Mr. Bradford Hardman "batbrad" - Published on Amazon.com
I grew up as a fan of all things Dungeons & Dragons and picked up the various Practical Guide books originally for the art. The books look great and have excellent production values. I am a father of two girls and my oldest, who is now 8, has recently gotten into all things Fantasy...especially fantasy that involves dragons and MAGIC. She's a big fan of the Harry Potter stuff, but this book really struck a chord with her as it is set in more of a classic Fantasy setting. She carries this and two of the other Practical Guide books (Guide to Monsters and Dragons) in her satchel along with her wand and other other adventuring gear. The fun part of these books is that they are written and displayed from the perspective of text book. She just loves it! She's asked me to run her a D&D game where her character goes to the Wizard School described in this book. Great stuff all around.

I got this a while back. I really enjoyed my read with this. Lots of beautiful pictures and a brilliant read. My only grip was that I found it to be a little short. Still and excellent buy for any one whos a fan of this series of books. and yes I'm well above the target age. but who cares this is a fun read for anyone.
