Book Description

Sept. 1 2011
This book is a good overview of most of the popular queen rearing methods. This edition has all the original plates plus two additional plates on the Hopkins method from the Australasian Bee Manual, and a three page section about the author with two more plates of the author. It also has headings added for the items that were indexed and in place of the index a more complete Table of Contents that includes those headings. It has a table of figures. It is newly typeset, not an OCR and not a digital scan. It is a very easy to read font in 12 pt.

5.0 out of 5 stars Practical Queen rearing March 17 2014

A very practical book on the subject that has much information that I was looking for. I have raised many honeybee queens through the years naturally but wanted to go beyond the usual natural approach so I could be a better teacher to my son & daughter who now have developed an interest in finally getting some beehives of their own instead of just robbing his Dad's honey. It will be fun to try these new queen rearing methods together and some grafting. If they make their own hive splits they might actually take good care of them. I will be ordering each of them a hard copy of this book as it is the best I have come across so far.

The book does have some good info but is dated. I was hoping for illustrations and technique details. Is worth the two dollar price.
