1.0 out of 5 stars "Pray" for This One to End, May 2 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Pray For Power (DVD)
"Pray for Power" is another example of how Quentin Tarantino's influence has infested the culture. Now, even direct-to-video soft-core flicks have that kind of "hip, edgy" slant to them. What's the deal with that? Are the backers of these pictures really aiming for artistic achievement? (Hey, note to producers, I'm just looking for attractive women, one or two decent performances, some reasonably steamy sex, and - if you can manage it between counting the bucks your next masterwork will rake in from the video and international markets - a script that actually holds up. Maybe that's only me.) For all its pretensions, "Pray for Power" is a long, unsexy slog, with an uninteresting crime story that keeps the very sexy Lisa Boyle fully clothed far too much. This isn't to say that I wasn't more than a little refreshed to see that (Ms. Boyle's come a long way in her development as an actress, and she's a lot better at her craft than most producers would like to think), but if you're pitching a lame action movie as a sexy thriller with a hot leading lady, you shouldn't forget to pander to the crowd. It's longer than it needs to be, it's incredibly dull for stretches, it's filmed (but looks like digital video) with a startling lack of competence, and it just ain't sexy.

1.0 out of 5 stars I Am In This and Even I Think It's Lame, Sep 1 2006

Start with the laughably bad dialogue and go from there. This film needs the MST3K treatment. There are some mostly silicone-enhanced women to ogle, but the story is so badly written and confusing that when the main characters' lawyer-friend explains to them what's going on about 3/4s through the film, it feels like he is explaining what's going on to the audience as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quentin Tarantino would be proud!, Jan 25 2003

If your a fan of Quentin Tarantino then you will love this movie. Dispite a few flaws one being the music the acting and directing were remarkable. I'd defently recomend this flick for any fan especialy the hardcore Quentin Tarantino fans out there.
