Book Description

Sep 12 2011 The Cantral Chronicles (Book 1)

With microchips implanted in their skulls at birth, the slaves of Cantral and Cillineese have labored under the tyrannical rule of the Nobles and their computers for decades. Monica, a Noble who avoided the implanting and escaped a death sentence at the age of four, is now sixteen and is in hiding. She lives with the slaves inside the walls of the Cantral palace, pretending to be one of them while the slave council plots a way to use her chip-less state to destroy the all-powerful computers that strike down any hint of rebellion.
The Nobles hear of Monica’s survival and try to exterminate her before she ruins their upper-class utopia. The rebels send her to find a missing paper bearing instructions on how to shut down the computers that control the chips in Cillineese, a major city-state. The Nobles are alerted to the plan and prepare to seal Cillineese in a giant dome to gas the inhabitants, including Monica.
The fate of millions rides on Monica’s shoulders. As the only chip-less person in the world, she must find the paper, destroy the computers, and free Cillineese from the Nobles’ iron fist before they strike with the ultimate punishment—death for everyone inside the city walls.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing! Keep it to reread it!! :) Sep 26 2012

I passed this wonderful novel onto my daughter & she absolutely loved it & can't wait for more! Morgan is quite fussy with what she will & will not read, so her loving this book is a good thing! It's a fast paced, engrossing story which keeps you turning page after page. The fact that a teenage girl wrote this story is just mind boggling to me! Her artful way of telling the story, setting the scene, and acquainting you to all the different characters will leave you wanting more! Travel through this exciting story of faith with God leading the way!

Reading Precisely Terminated is my first experience with dystopian fantasy. It is said that you can't judge a book by its cover and at first glance, I wasn't sure what to expect from this book. The cover picture reminded me of trailers for the paranormal movies that are so popular leading up to Halloween and I didn't know if this would be a book I would recommend for my kids, but I was pleasantly surprised by what was contained within!
The futuristic story starts out rather dark and dismal, slowly setting the stage of a story world ruled by tyrants, about to gas millions of slaves whom they control with microchip implants. The freedom of these slaves rests upon the shoulders of the young, self-sacrificing "noble" heroine who had evaded receiving a microchip and thus can move freely to sabotage the plans of the oppressors. Unlike secular dystopian novels, Davis' characters progress toward a hopeful and brighter future. Precisely Terminated is a thought provoking first book from a new author. I would suggest Precisely Terminated for the mid-teen to adult reader..

3.0 out of 5 stars First in a Dystopian trilogy Sep 10 2012

Kudos to the teen author for crafting such a clever tale filled with lots of futuristic angst. Packed with action and desperation, Precisely Terminated meets all the criteria of the dystopian genre -- an impossible quest, a doomed society and only one person who can save them all.

While Monica is definitely a strong heroine, her struggles seemed overwhelming at times. I kept hoping for an ally -- a special friend -- someone who could offer support and comfort to buffer the harsh reality of her destiny. But though she receives help from different individuals, their connection is too fleeting to make a lasting impression.

Some repetitive threads could have been edited down in order to enhance the plot and tighten the story. Too many fruitless errands down dark tunnels under duress bogged down the flow for me.

That being said, the author held my attention and kept me reading because I just had to find out what happened next. The nail-biting climax had me wincing and cringing and turning pages at a frenzied rate.
