5.0 out of 5 stars The most comphrensive guide on pregnancy., Feb 11 2010
By Y. Johnson - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This book totally blew most of the others I have read out of the water. It's got a lot of pertinent information in it that others always seem to miss. What I most liked about it was the fact that it not only goes over important stuff about pregnancy but it also goes into early childhood stuff I needed to know. A high recommend--don't pass it up! I also recommend Really Pregnant! Confessions of a New Mom-To-Be or Why I Couldn't Stop Eating Brownies.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very calming read, Oct 26 2003
This is my first pregnancy (33yrs.) and my first and ONLY book. I spent hours online reading the various reviews of the more popular older books and I had three that I thought I would review in the store before purchasing. Yes, the others were there, and I spent about 3mins. browsing however this book was the last on my lap, the newest of the rest and it is the one I left with. Clear, concise and calming, even dad-to-be thinks so. Extremely informative, and VERY to update, covering all the important topics from -0 to after 9mths. I was particularly interested in the exercise and the nutrition section. It did not down play labour or the pros/cons of the pain relief. I feel along with the information online, this book, is all I really need but then that just me!!

4.0 out of 5 stars A useful, diagram-heavy pregnancy reference book, Jan 13 2010
By L. Laushway (Canada) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
First off, this is not a cover-to-cover read. That's common to the three pregnancy/parenting I currently own (including What to Expect When You're Expecting - 4th Edition and Parenting For Dummies). Don't expect to find everything within pregnancy reference books to be relevant to your case.

I thought that this was a highly useful reference book, although I honestly believe this to be a good companion book to What to Expect When You're Expecting - 4th Edition. This book is rich with illustrative and photographic reference and contains a wealth of information pertinent to a developing fetus, pregnancy and maternal health. The reason that I say that this is a good companion book to What to Expect When You're Expecting is that I found that this book doesn't provide as much in-depth information of the health effects and symptoms of pregnancy. I am very pleased that there are exercises listed in this book which have been adapted for expectant mothers, although I've yet to actually make use of those. Still, I don't regret this purchase at all and have given it four stars.
