This review is from: The Pregnancy Plan (Mass Market Paperback)
Ashley Roarke and Cameron Turcotte had been together twelve years ago when he broke her heart. She was hoping for marriage and children, but he wanted to finish college and begin his career as a doctor. He left her behind and moved on with his life. A few years later he met and married another woman (okay she trapped him) to have that family that he didn't want when he was nineteen. Yet he decided it was a good idea to do so when he is still going to school to become a doctor especially w/ a woman that didn't want any children! Apparently his ex was completely opposite of Ashley and Cam thought that was a good thing since he was scared of his feelings for Ashley when he was younger.

Now Cameron has returned home w/ his young daughter, Maddie, in tow, and a divorce behind him. Ashley is still in town and happens to become Maddie's 1st grade teacher. She has a fiancé and a desire for a family. Since her fiancé appears to not be a good bet, Ashley is thinking about artificial insemination and busy body Dr. Turcotte doesn't think that is a good idea. Instead he offers himself up - old fashioned donor way - w/ no strings attached. Once it takes he suddenly changes his mind and wants more!

Cameron made it sound as though Ashley's dreams are "simple" and not that great, but since he is now in need of a good woman for his daughter and he wants that family . . . well . . . suddenly Ashley's life is looking better. It doesn't hurt that the good doctor claims he had a hole in his life when he had walked away from Ashley - however, if that ex had lived up to what he wanted he wouldn't be courting Ashley now anyway!

He knows that Ashley isn't manipulative and deceitful, but he sure comes across as both of those things. Once he offers up his being the biological father, Ashley tells him upfront that she is not looking for a r/s, husband, or father for her child - just some good ole sperm! Cameron discards all of that because it isn't what he wants to hear and he will get his way even if he has to threaten legal action. For some reason he has determined that the oral agreement can and will be rewritten, but at least his father was reasonable.

He knew what she wanted and he had taken it away from her all those years ago and now he is trying to give it back - or is he? Isn't it all about what HE wants now? He was in love w/ his ex at one time, divorced for about 5 years but celibate for 2 years - FWBs w/ ex! It didn't feel like he came back for Ashley, but that he saw an opportunity and decided to take advantage of it. By doing so, he would be satisfying two things at once: a good "simple" mommy for his daughter and a wife that wants a family above all other things for himself.

Cam's ex proves to be just as manipulative as Ashley claims and she also maneuvers Ashley into marrying Cam as well!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Loved it but.., Aug 19 2010

I just read this book, and absolutely fell in love with it! I especially loved Cam's little girl! The only problem I had with the characters is that Ashley was so unforgiving through out the entire book, even when she and Cam end up in bed together, she has a hard time forgiving him for leaving her when they were 19. Come on he left to attend college and medical school, it's not like he left her to join the circus. All in all this book was a great read and I would recommend this book to anyone, you might want to make sure you read the first book in this series before reading this one though as they make a lot of reference to Ashley's sister Megan.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun, April 14 2010

Read the first of this series and was not disappointed with this followup. There's a bit too much angst, but the book did not suffer. 4 1/2 stars.
