These are NOT 3" ice sphere's as indicated in the Product Features.
They are in fact 2".
I might have ordered something else if I was aware of this fact.

5.0 out of 5 stars They are okay. Jun 7 2011

Some tips if you are going to buy this:
1) don't try any pry the ice out, you will destroy the product. Don't even try to open the ball once the water has frozen. Again, you will destroy the product. Instead run some water over it and try to slowly open it. You shouldn't need much force once a layer of water is between the ice and plastic
2) Don't expect perfectly round ice. Usually the ice pushes the mold open a little and looks a little morphed.
3) This is personal preference but I like clear ice. Boil distilled water wait for it to cool and use that in your mold. Before you boil the water though, rinse out the pot you are going to boil water in with the distilled water so there aren't any minerals left in the pot. Distilled water is only $1/gallon and sold at most grocery stores. Your ice still wont be completely clear but trust me, it will look a lot better. ENJOY

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy Breezy Ice Molds for Bourbon or scotch drinkers Mar 5 2011
By Mary N. Bucklew - Published on Amazon.com

These four individual ice molds make the best large ice balls for serious bourbon or single malt scotch drinkers. For making a globe or ice ball, fill the plastic globes with water, clip the lid shut, freeze for 6 hours and VOILA, the perfect size for a single "rocks" glass with minimal "melt." They are easy to fill and even easier to remove after they are frozen - ice ball pops right out! Product says it can also be used for other liquids. Make several and keep them frozen in a plastic bag in the freezer!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good fun! Jun 15 2011

I use these for my cocktails, and whilst I'm sure there is some benefit to the shape in terms of not all melting at once, I just really like the shape.
It does take a little practice to get the fill level correct so the container doesn't pop open as it freezes (no spilling if it does open up as the edges have already frozen). Not a big deal, but if you overfill you won't get very round ice balls (they'll have a tire in the middle!).
Handy hint: If you fill them and let the water settle for a little while, the balls will come out less cloudy. I've heard boiling the water beforehand and letting cool will produce less cloudy ice too.
