Spencer is falling for her sister's boyfriend, Aria is involved in a relationship with her teacher, Emily has issues with her sexual identity, and Hanna has an eating disorder. They think that no one knows about these things, until all four of them begin to get mysterious notes, e-mails, and text messages from someone by the name of A. They are afraid that Alison is back, and the mocking tone of the messages makes them worry that she could be ready to divulge their hidden past. In the end, her body is found, but they still receive the messages, leaving readers to wonder what happens next. Shepard writes a suspenseful page-turner that will have teens thirsting for more. One "it" girl named Alison mysteriously goes missing during the summer between seventh and eighth grade.
In a ritzy town in Phillidelphia the alpha in a clique of five "it" girls suddenly goes missing...
Three years later the four remaining clique members grow apart and no longer speak with one another.
Hanna transforms herself from socialy awkward to the ruler of the school, Rosewood Day.
Aria moves back to Philly from Iceland bringing with her a new personality.
Emily is every parents dream and the same goes for Spencer.

The four girls come together again as they each recieve surprising E-mails, texts, and notes about secrets from their past and present from a mysterious person named "A".

As the girls try to resolve the "A" thing they find out that: Alison is found dead and "A" knows more about each of them than they know about each other, and is ready to tell everyone.

I found this book really exciting and I couldn't put it down. The book changes views and has a lot of background characters, so you need to remember everything. And with a cliffhanger ending It can easily be the best book I have read, ever.

This book is amazing! I honestly couldn't put it down! It's fun, funny, creepy, and smart! It really keeps you at the edge of your seat! Really, everyone must read this book! It is awesome!

Alison, Emma, Spencer, Aria, and Hanna were once the best of friends back in the summer between seventh and eighth grade. They held private sleepovers, passed notes in homeroom, and shared their darkest secrets. Then a tragic incident shook the safe, suburban town of Rosewood: Alison vanished without a trace. Now years later, Alison still hasn't been found and the other girls are now in the eleventh grade, but are no longer friends.

Emma is the sporty teen, obedient, and every parents' dream daughter. Aria is back from Iceland, more mysterious and prettier than ever. Chubby Hanna has lost the weight and has transformed herself into a sexy "It Girl," while Spencer is a smart and preppy overachiever. Perfect lives, huh? Almost.

When strange, threatening messages began appearing from a mysterious "A", the girls must face their past and the dark secrets they thought they had buried forever.

PRETTY LITTLE LIARS is an eerie novel that gave me the chills with every chapter. Well-written and full of suspense, I'm sure it will attract many readers and also make a popular television show. With a cliffhanger ending, I definitely cannot wait for the sequel!
