Product Description

Product Description

Hole's debut album originally released by Caroline in 1991 was produced by Kim Gordon and Gumball front man Don Fleming. Pretty On The Inside was named album of the year by The Village Voice and the only single released, "Teenage Whore", entered the UK indie charts at number one. Graphic lyrics, distorted guitar riffs, screaming vocals, and messy punk ethics helped the album sell over 600,000 copies worldwide and established Courtney Love's long running cult status. On 180 gram vinyl.

5.0 out of 5 stars hardcore glory. April 18 2005
Format:Audio CD
this cd is way more hardocre then "celebrity skin" and "live through this" but its great. that is one thing i really like ab;out them. each of their cd's is unique.
celebrity skin is softer, live through this is the middle, and this is hard.
i love it.
i only wish they would come back together to make another cd. i cant get enough of them.

4.0 out of 5 stars Hole is pretty on the inside May 13 1998
Format:Audio CD
Loves lyrical talents carry this alubm as Holes mucial talents leave a little to be desired at this point, especially compared to their later album LIve Through This. FOr an early effort this is a very good album none the less and worth the $20 bucks.

5.0 out of 5 stars nothing pretty about this album Jan 2 2006
Format:Audio CD
pretty on the inside is my favourite hole album. tho i was introduced to the group via live through this (my first love), pretty on the inside has surpassed that love over time. if you like raw, buy this album. they used to say that many people would not be able to give this album one listen let alone many. the vocals are incredible. the beats are totally primitive. the guitars are reminiscent of sonic youth. this album takes you on a journey into hell and back. well no, not really back. filled with sexual fury and female rage (to put it mildly). among the best songs are: "teenage whore" "goodsister/badsister" (my fave) "mrs. jones" (the scariest track) and "garbage man". nothing melodic about this recording. except for a snippet of "rhiannon" on "starbelly". best listened to on a rainy day.

The CD cover is eyecatching and the music is intense. It actually sounds the way you might expect a debut to sound like. Read more

This is just complete garbage for the most part, clearly representative of the early stages of a band that would go on to much better things. Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars I've seen your repulsion, and it looks real good on you.
Released in 1991, "Pretty on the Inside" is perhaps the most beautifully deranged recording in Hole's 10-year career. Read more
