This review is from: Pride and Prejudice (SparkNotes Literature Guide) (Paperback)
After having a few problems understanding Austen's novel I went to buy this book. With it's summaries over the chapters I began to understand the book I was reading. In all honesty, I'd recommend SparkNotes over CliffsNotes. I say this because CliffsNotes gives you the impression that after you've read the CliffsNotes and only the CliffsNotes you don't need to pay attention in class or read the book. This is what happened to me several times and my grade in English dropped. Even though I'm only reading "Pride and Prejudice" for fun, I find that the only thing I'm lacking is an English teacher to do some explaining about some minor details about the characters in the story.

The only drawback it has is the fact that it analyzes about five chapters at once. This is the only fault I have to say about this book. However, one has to realize that the chapters in "Pride and Prejudice" are so short that this is a bit of a requirement.

Don't make the same mistake I've done so many times and purchase CliffsNotes. Buy this instead and you'll be glad you did!

3.0 out of 5 stars Nothing much will be gained by reading this., May 10 2003
This review is from: Pride and Prejudice (SparkNotes Literature Guide) (Paperback)
"Spark Notes Pride and Prejudice" was a tad long in it's descriptions of the chapters and I didn't care for the amount of chapters it explained at once. The explanations were not in full at times. It's basically an abridged version of the novel. As always, you should read the Spark Notes AFTER you have read "Pride and Prejudice." I "sorta" recommend.
