This book is a pretty good summary/amalgamation of many of the very best books on diet I have found, such as Eat Fat, Lose Fat: The Healthy Alternative to Trans Fats by Sally Fallon, Deep Nutrition: Why Your Genes Need Traditional Food by Catherine Shanahan, Real Food: What to Eat and Why by Nina Planck, Know Your Fats : The Complete Primer for Understanding the Nutrition of Fats, Oils and Cholesterol by Mary G. Enig, The Coconut Oil Miracle by Bruce Fife, The Whole Soy Story: The Dark Side of America's Favorite Health Food by Kaayla T. Daniel, The Schwarzbein Principle: The Truth About Losing Weight, Being Healthy, and Feeling Younger by Nancy Deville....
Plus: Gut and Psychology Syndrome by Natasha Campbell-McBride, Traditional Foods Are Your Best Medicine: Improving Health and Longevity with Native Nutrition by Ronald F. Schmid, The Cholesterol Myths: Exposing the Fallacy That Saturated Fat and Cholesterol Cause Heart Disease by Uffe Ravnskov and The Primal Blueprint: Reprogram your genes for effortless weight loss, vibrant health, and boundless energy (Primal Blueprint Series) by Mark Sisson.
What is also wonderful about this book is that it is also a book about health and treating illness. It deals with the topic of health in some depth and does NOT just tell you to eat well and as your ancestors did and everything will be fine.Read more ›
you liked these, you'll be equally pleased with this one. It's definitely mind-oriented: a lot of
info on Attention Deficit Disorders and other mental-health issues: I hope all professionals will at least
consider this diet approach for therapy. A must for serious people who have done their research and contemplating a paleo switch in their life; And probably necessary for people afflicted with mild depression to even violent behavior.
By going into our evolutionary past, Nora brings up the eating habits of our paleolithic ancestors and explains how the human race evolved. It wasn't from farming practices or eating tons of starches or sugars like we do today, but by hunting wild game and eating a lot of fat and moderate proteins.
None of the diseases that we have today - cancer, diabetes, alzheimers, ADD and autism existed in such epidemic amounts until recently. And this has not only to do with our lifestyle, but especially our eating habits that are destroying us from the inside out by completely disregulating and throwing off our hormone and blood sugar levels.
This depletes our adrenal gland functions, can throw our thyroids out of whack, and cause severe mood and emotional swings making us susceptible to stress, anxiety and depression at a level unheard of.
What I found to be most shocking, especially to those who are parents or who are going to be soon, is that she explains the concept of Pottenger's in which a generation subsisting on processed, nutrient-depleted foods will inevitably pass on genetic weaknesses and immune system disorder to their children, and so on and so forth.Read more ›
