Each disorder is discussed from a primary care perspective, with the information and approach necessary to care for adult patients in a caring, cost-effective manner.

This is an excellent reference for students and practicing NPs. It is one of the most comprehensive resources I have come across in practice.
For Canadian buyers, I'd suggest going to Amazon.com as the US purchase price is $105.00. Amazon.ca needs to catch up to the value of the Cdn $$.

Buttaro's Primary Care A Collaborative Practice has been a key component in the Family Nurse Practitioner curriculum at the university I am currently attending. It is broken up into body systems and then specific conditions are outlined which makes it very easy to use. It is lacking in some places and can be a little tedious to read at times but overall it is very helpful and with each disease being broken up into sections that include history, physical exam, differentials, and diagnostics it makes it easy to jump right to the information you are looking for. Patient education could be expanded in some sections.

I have been practicing as a nurse practitioner for more than seven years and own several reference books. This is the one I reach for whenever I have a question. It is easy to use and contains all of the information I need. I own three copies, one for each office and one for home. I recommend it to all of the nurse practitioner students I precept.
