"Christine Warren's The Others novels are known for their humorous twists and turns of otherworldly creatures. Like her other Others novels, PRINCE CHARMING DOESN'T LIVE HERE is an excellently delicious story with great characterization." --Fresh Fiction
"Warren always adds plenty of sex and sizzle to her stories, making sure the adventure pops!" --Romantic Times on Prince Charming Doesn't Live Here
Danice Carter is not one for glass slippers. A stilettos-wearing lawyer at one of Manhattan’s most elite establishments, Danice has a very strong grip on reality. So when she’s asked by one the firm’s founding partners to take on a personal case, Danice knows she’s in for the opportunity of a lifetime. All she has to do is convince her top boss’s granddaughter, Rosemary, to file a paternity suit. Sounds simple enough…until Danice arrives at Rosemary’s home and is pounced on by a handsome stranger.
Private investigator McIntyre Callahan’s was only following his powerful client’s orders: Find Rosemary—at all costs. Instead, he’s found a super-hot lawyer prowling around looking for answers he can’t give. The half-human, half-Fae Mac tries to warn Danice that she’s way in over her head—that Rosemary may roam among The Others, and may have dangerous ties to the Unseelie Court—but she won’t be deterred. Even if that means following Mac to the ends of the earth to find Rosemary…or surrendering to his supernatural powers of temptation…until death do they part.

LIGHT ROMANTIC FANTASY...,
By
This review is from: Prince Charming Doesn't Live Here (Mass Market Paperback)
When hotshot, up and coming, white-glove law firm lawyer, Danice Carter, is summoned by one of the firm's founding partners for a special assignment of a personal nature, having to do with the partner's granddaughter, Rosemary, she realizes it is sink or swim in a dog-eat-dog world. Little does she know that she would butt heads with Private Investigator McIntyre Callahan, who has also been commissioned to find the very same Rosemary, no matter what the cost. When Callahan tells Danice what he thinks would be unthinkable, that there is another world out their in which those known as the Others live, and that he himself is half Fae, no one is more surprised than Mac by her response. Believing that Rosemary may be among the Others, together they join forces to find her, no matter what the fates may bring. This is, at times, a funny, humorous book, but it is wholly plot driven with little attempt at character development. It is a quick, breezy, totally forgettable book for those who enjoy romantic fantasy served up light and will offer, at most, a modicum of enjoyment.

don't bother,
This review is from: Prince Charming Doesn't Live Here (Mass Market Paperback)
I usually love all things sci-fi and paranormal, for me it is pure escapism, but not this book. I have never read anything from this author before and probably won't again. Clearly the author is smart, imaginative, and funny, but this book tries too hard. She spends way too much time trying to make this witty, and I found it prevented the story from gaining momentum, so much so that I only made it half way through before I gave up. I was very disappointed.

Short Story for Full Length Price,

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
When I first started reading the Others series by Christine Warren I was really excited. I liked the concept of the books, I liked the overall story line, and I liked the characters. Then the rewrites/rereleases started.Several books ago Christine Warren began rewriting books that had previously been released as short stories and releasing them. I was ok with it at first, but now, you've got to be joking. I purchased this book in kindle format thinking that I would be getting a book. What I got was a short story with a TON of filler. 17% of this book was not part of the story, and it is a small file to begin with. This easily should have been released in an anthology, or perhaps with another Others book. It was short, lacked any sort of interesting plot, and had such little character development I was stunned. I didn't care about these characters, the book didn't add to the backstory in any meaningful way, and the whole thing felt like a throwaway. I feel like I was ripped off. I don't have any problem paying for a book, but I want a book, not a short story. I seriously hope Ms. Warren begins writing new, original books and leaves the previously released rewrites behind. Unless the storyline starts progressing again I won't continue buying. 27 of 27 people found the following review helpful

cheated again by a reprint,

I am getting really angry with publishers who keep re-issuing books and not telling the readers that this is NOT the first time this story has been published. I originally purchased this story on the Elloras Cave site several years ago where I really, really, enjoyed the story in it's romantica format. The story of the five friends who start trying to fix their friends up on dates is a really great read. But now the publisher has re-released these stories in print for the masses and the story looses some of it's original charm and impact. Not to mention you will be reading the stories OUT OF ORDER. If you enjoyed Christine Warren's "Fur Fixed" stories from EC beware before you buy this book or the re-issue of the other stories. These stories are kind of dull compared to their original charm. Also; you are spending money that you already spent. I wouldn't recommend buying this book. Try to find the ebook; it was much better.

Write What You Know,

I read the first few chapters of this book and realized I would never buy it and might stop buying Christine Warren altogether. As an American with an ethnically diverse background I am sick and tired of non-minority writers trying to tell me how someone like me should feel about her heritage. I am gravely offended that Ms. Warren assumes that someone with brown skin would hide their ethnicity as though they were ashamed. And that the only time one would admit to a diverse background would be to get into college and law school - as if being black or latina could get you in when your grades can't. That is a common misconception and is total crap. While we're at it, let me also tell you, as an attorney working in NY, that no big time law firm is going to hire you just because you're a minority. So there was no need for Danice Carter to "compromise her intergrity" and admit to being ethnically diverse to get the job at her big time law firm.I've read CW before and enjoyed her work, but this was not a well written story and the character development was non-existent. I have not read the short story that preceded this rewrite but what I read of this story did seem to contain a lot of overly descriptive filler that in no way advanced the plot. I love the idea of The Others, similar to Kresley Cole's Immortal After Dark series. I just hope CW's other titles are better than this one. Ms. Warren, save your imagination for faeries, demons and vampires. If you want to include monority characters in your books, talk to a few before you assume we're all ashamed of or trying to hide our ethnicity. Write what you know. |
