Product Description

From Amazon

Setting: Isle of Ascencion, 1816
Sensuality Rating: 8

On the eve of his 30th birthday, Crown Prince Raffaele Giancarlo Ettore di Fiore feels more like a prisoner than a prince. With his every wish granted and no real work required of him, Rafe is bored. Fate intervenes when his coach is set upon by The Masked Rider, a mysterious highwayman adored by the common folk for his Robin Hood ways. Rafe foils the bandit's attack only to later discover that he's unmasked a lovely young noblewoman. Lady Daniela Chiaramonte is as strong-willed and brave as she is beautiful and when she's drawn into Rafe's world of luxury and power, she becomes an invaluable ally in the storm of events that threaten his once predictable life. With an unknown assassin plotting against the royal family, Rafe's wit, courage, and endurance is tested beyond reason. Perhaps no one but Rafe and Daniela believe that he can save the kingdom; in the end, even the powerful prince might not be able to save the woman he loves.

Convoluted political intrigue, an evil villain, trusty companions, and a fascinating hero and heroine make this action-filled romance an entertaining finish for the trilogy that began with The Pirate Prince and continued with Princess. --Lois Faye Dyer

From Publishers Weekly

Foley's final installment in her historical romance trilogy (following The Pirate Prince and The Princess) is set on the fictional island nation of Ascencion in the early 1800s. When the Masked Rider robs crown prince Rafael de Fiore, he vows revenge. Prince Rafe and his coterie track the thief to an estate, where Rafe meets and becomes interested in the lovely mistress--Lady Daniela Chiaramonte. Prince Rafe is a man with many problems. Although he was raised to rule, he has not been given the opportunities to do so, and for too long he has lived only for his pleasures--until he meets Dani, who does not know if she can believe his sweet words and exotic touch. Soon he discovers that his country's answer to Robin Hood is the lady Dani. The prince is torn between arresting or marrying the spirited young woman whom his countrymen have taken to heart. Foley brings historical accuracy and richly drawn characters, particularly the complex prince, to her romance. (Feb.)

5.0 out of 5 stars amazing!, Mar 5 2004

This review is from: Prince Charming (Mass Market Paperback)
Prince Charming is, in my opinion, the best in the trilogy.

Rafe the Rake, the charming crown prince of Ascencion, has never been taken seriously, but when King Lazar fears that he might soon die and decides to travel to Spain to visit Serafina (Princess), Rafael di Fiore becomes the Prince Regent. An opportunity Rafe has waited all his life for, but with it, come all the responsibilities that no one trusted him to have the abilities for and a secret conspiracy that he is in danger of falling victim to.

Daniela Chiaramonte is the infamous Masked Rider, whose brave Robin Hood-like adventures have won her the heart of Ascencion's people. From the day Rafe saw her, he knew that he wanted this innocent, stubborn woman.

So, proposing marriage when she is captured, Rafe tells her that he is only hoping the Masked Rider will help sway the public's opinion of him. However, as they fight to keep their marriage and the throne of Ascencion, they discover just how far each will go to protect the other, and the depth of their love.

However, there were a few parts where Rafe gets a bit pushy, though, the prince that he is, he always remains a gentleman. This truly fantastic story moved me to tears. Don't miss it or the rest of the Ascencion trilogy!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Prince Charming, Oct 29 2003
This review is from: Prince Charming (Mass Market Paperback)
A rogue + a tomboy = a brilliant romance! And a brilliant book! This was a great book and a great sequel to the other two Ascencion novels. I liked the idea that the hero had become fed-up with music halls, alcohol and sex. He was looking for something more challenging - something that was worth the effort of getting up every morning! What he needed was his brave, headstrong little hellion! And what she needed was someone to love her and a family of her own and her Prince Charming gave her that! Although this book was absolutely fabulous, I must say that I prefered the past two Ascencion stories - probably because I prefer dark heroes than golden-haired ones! But I suppose Rafes splendid character made up for that!

I'll comment on a few things:
Firstly I was sooooooooo sad when Nic and Adriano died even though they were horrible to Dani - I felt soooooooo sorry for Adriano and I feel Miss Foley really worked wonders into his character (his instabilities etc). It really is a shame he had to die although I suppose if he had lived he would have been miserable for the rest of his days! I won't give any more away but let me just say that if circumstances were different I would of married him myself (probably cos I felt sooooo sorry for him). I mean Orlando is just horrible.
Secondly: It was really disturbing the way Dani got beaten like that - that was the only part of the book that I probably didn't like. I mean it was scary the way she bled and quite frankly I hate anything to do with harm coming to babies!
Thirdly: I wish Miss Foley reintroduced more of her past characters into the story - Darius (more all time favourite guy!), Serafina and Allegra. They only spoke a bit and I wish they had been in the book more even though I realise that the plot wouldn't allow them to be in it a lot.
Finishing off: I'm soooooooooooo sad that the series has ended now! I was miserable when I ended the book cos I knew there were no more after it! I wish Miss Foley would write a book about Leo even though she said that she won't! HONESTLY I CRIED when I finished reading the series! Who ever hasn't read the Ascencion series had better do so now! I just hoped I haven't spoiled it too much for you with this review!!!

SPOILER!!!!!!:::
P.S. Mateo + Carmen = I never would have guessed!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Dashing, Daring, and yet still Romantic, Oct 20 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Prince Charming (Mass Market Paperback)
This book amazed me. Usually, these revised fairy-tale type romantic novels are filled with mindless characters and unrealistic sex scenes to fill in the authors lack of true writting ability, but Gaelen Foley brings to life brave new characters and shows the couple's love through tender moments, not pornographic descriptions that make even the least naive reader blush. She gave the plot twists that were never expected and enlightened a sense of suspense towards the climax and ending of this magnificent writting masterpiece. If you have the slightest romantic bone in your body, you will swoon at the masterful portrayal of the dashing Rafael. And your inner independent damsel will be brought to life through the daring Daniela. But through it all, watchout for the mischievious Orlando for he will be trying to push his way into the thron, no matter the consequences to the crown prince, and his new bride.
