Why do these Middle Eastern characters have British accents?,

This review is from: Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (Video Game)
Prince of Persia was one of the first games I went out and bought when I received an Xbox for Christmas, and I must say that all things considered, I'm satisfied with my purchase. First off, POP is just a beautiful game. I don't know how it looks on the PS2 or Gamecube, but on the Xbox it's magnificent. The lighting and water effects are among the best I've ever seen. It isn't that the game just looks pretty, though; it's essential to immersing you within POP's atmosphere and environment. One of the game's selling points is its vast freedom of movement, and rest assured that this is indeed one of POP's most enjoyable features. It's relatively easy to learn most of the moves, and I'd say a good 60% of the gameplay involves trying to find a way from point A to point B. Most of the motion is more fluid than Ryu's similar acrobatics in Ninja Gaiden (the camera is much better as well). Prince of Persia does suffer from a few flaws, though. The combat system is not particularly interesting. The Prince has a limited number of moves, and his enemies aren't particularly varied either. An even greater problem is that the controls for a couple of the Prince's moves are more tricky than they need be, and this makes for a very frustrating experience from time to time. Learning how to jump wall-to-wall, which is crucial in several parts, has to be performed perfectly if you want to get anywhere. On the other hand, I haven't personally noticed many of the bugs that others have mentioned in regards to this game. I would recommend anyone interested in Prince of Persia to check it out.

Excellent game - but a little buggy,

I agree with a previous reviewer who said the first battle is very hard - the game doesn't prepare you for this sufficiently and I *almost* gave up but I'm glad I didn't. It is more than possible to beat these guys but you have bide your time; blocking, blocking until the right moment to strike. Battles take minutes - not a few seconds and can have you fighting around the entire area. Once I'd worked out the fight system I was away - acrobatically leaping around the place, solving puzzles and killing bad guys and having a great time. The game is frankly a joy to play - you rarely feel a series of jumps is unfairly hard and for the most part enemy battles are fun and very cinematic. Much praise has been heaped on the graphics and rightly so - I would however have like a little more varity in the feel of the game. Even ice caverns had a similar subdued look, which, whilst were in keeping with the overall appearance, didn't come across as different enough to create the impression of a new place. So it's a great game well worth your money - but I do have a problem with the bugs. It's by far the most buggy XBox game I have so save often - go back to save points even if you've done very little since the last save and don't overwrite previous saves. You will have to go back to a previous save at least once. Sometimes the prince would get stuck in a falling motion and this motion carried onto the restart so when you reloaded the prince is still waving his arms as though dropping to his death, despite being an inch off the ground. Other times the game simply said 'no no no' and crashed out to the retry/quit screen, and at least once a non-playing character (the female lead) committed suicide by leaping off a wall, thus preventing any progress since she was required to open a door. Sure I could've lived without these issues, but they don't prevent the game from being enjoyable. Go get it.

BEST ole school RPG plus new style RPG,
By
This review is from: Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (Video Game)
ok this game is nothing like SW:KOTOR it a straight forward RPG that just plain good ole fun. The graphic of this game is simply "STUNNING" it is amazingly beautiful and smooth. UbiSoft have went great length to make this graphic push the xbox nvidia to the limit. What better than the graphic is the fighting choroegraph. There are over 750 animations for the main character which could come out to endless amount of combo and fighting moves. The ability to do some amazing areobatic moves add to game and make this one refresing game. The puzzle in this game is challenge but not too hard to make you smash your controller. This have the part of old school rpg, but new add-in that make it something unique and definetly fun to play. The only complaint i could gather is the camera which is a tiny bit tricky sometime. Expect to die quite a few time because of the challenging enviroment and until u get use to jumping and "flying" you will fall down and kill yourself quite easily. Overal this game is a 9/10. I strongly advise to buy this game now.
