This was a story that I had hoped would be another good animated movie but I was wrong. The quality of the animation for this movie didn't even come CLOSE to the quality of all our other animated movies. Like our other animated movies such as Lilo and Stitch, American Tail, Aladdin, Sword and the Stone, Cinderella, etc, all these movies not only have EXCELLENT ANIMATION, but also the storylines are written much better and the plot and research for those movies had more work and care put into them. What I mean by that is this: when you have these 'bonus' features now for the movies that you buy, you get to see how these animated movies et al are made. What we saw when we watched this movie was the poor quality of the movement of each 'goblin' and person etc. and also the pictures weren't clearer and crisper than they could have been. This tells us then, that this was a movie that was not very well put together. We felt even the storyline was lame. This is where we suspected that like the other movies that are based on an author's storybook/novel that there are/were many parts of the storyline not put into it properly to make it as good a movie as it was (probably) a storyline. My only positive point about this movie, was that it was NOT that expensive, so in the end I didn't lose that much money in buying it. I will just give it to the library if I choose not to keep it. Bottom line: I would not recommend this movie for anyone who expects OR wants a movie that contains a high quality storyline and/or animation picture.
