From Booklist

After the death of her roguish brother, Lady May Hayworth discovers he left children scattered throughout the country. Determined to give them their birthright in turn, May sets out to find the first on her list: Michaela Standish. Michaela is stunned but pleased by her new fortune and sets out with high hopes for the season. The prime catch this year is Major Adrian Khoury, regaled hero of the Napoleonic Wars. The good major, however, wants little of the social whirl but knows he must face it as part of his political ambitions. However, one look at Michaela sets him upon a new campaign to win the lady over. The first installment in the Mayfair Brides series, which will follow May's turns at fairy godmother, this book is a diamond of the first order. Navin draws wonderfully flawed characters and offers satisfying, complex relationships. Nina Davis

5.0 out of 5 stars Didnt put it down, Jan 12 2004
This review is from: The Princess Of Park Lane (Paperback)
I really enjoyed this book, and the characters. There really isn't more to the description I could add that the previous reviews didn't touch upon. I like the idea of Lady May finding her late brothers brood, and getting them introduced into society, and that it is not rubbed in their families faces. It was a nice romantic read, and I can't believe I have to wait until Aug. 2004 for the 2nd book in this series. (Mayfair Brides)
I hope you all enjoy it too.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good Regency romance, Dec 2 2003

(TOP 500 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
This review is from: The Princess Of Park Lane (Paperback)
In 1811, widow Lady May Hayworth loves her commoner paramour Robert Carsons though he keeps secrets about his past, especially his family, from her. When her beloved scoundrel of a brother dies during a duel, May feels somewhat alone because he was the only person who shared her blood until she finds a journal that her rapscallion sibling kept about his women and the children he sired. May pledges to use her vast fortune to help her illegitimate nieces and nephews.

She decides to sponsor niece Michaela Standish and her two siblings, but quickly realizes that her relative's mom treats her with scorn, perhaps lingering guilt for sleeping with her rascal brother. When Michaela meets Waterloo war hero Major Adrian Khoury sparks fly, but he chooses to ignore his feelings because he seeks a quiet supporting wife to further his political ambitions while Michaela breaks all the rules of the Ton. Still he considers a marriage of convenience that will conveniently let him share a bed with the beauty who has captured his heart.

The cause of all these offspring is treated with an affectionate wink that he does not deserve due to his irresponsibility causing havoc on so many lives. Still fans will appreciate this Regency romance that focuses on a strong cast that includes the vulnerable Michaela, her deceased biological father, her disdainful mother, her envious sisters, her interfering matchmaking aunt, and her "not in love" war hero. Sub-genre readers will enjoy following the antics of this crew and look forward to May's next endeavor in Hyde Park.
