4.0 out of 5 stars Where's Beetlejuice? Sep 22 2003
By H3@+h
Format:Audio CD
This might not be the best soundtrack in the world, but it does succeed in three ways. One, it has good OLD rock like "Van Halen", "Cheap Trick", and "Deep Purple". Two, it has good NEW rock like "Rob Zombie", "Porno For Pyros", and "Type O Negative" with Ozzy. Three, and most importantly, it has clips from the movie. They're not all funny, but any fan of the movie, or show should enjoy them. Of course in typical "Howard Stern" fashion, the cd sleeve has almost nude chicks on it. There's alot of things to like about "Private parts".

5.0 out of 5 stars TOO HOT FOR RADIO Jun 27 2003
Format:Audio CD
First came the book, then this album, then the movie. The King Of All Media at his most hilarious. The soundtrack to the 1968 movie "Bonnie and Clyde" was like this album. Excerpts of dialogue from the movie. We start with some dialogue spoken by Paul Giamatti's character,Kenny "Pig Virus or Vomit" Rushton in the movie's final scene(the end credits are rolling during this scene). How dare he say "Howard Stern can kiss my ass in hell!"! This album features great recordings by Ozzy Osbourne,Ted Nugent,Van Halen,Green Day and the Ramones. There's TORTURED MAN performed by Stern and the Dust Brothers. Many of these dialogue excerpts are definitely too hot for radio airplay. There would be bleeps very often as required by the FCC. THE BEN STERN MEGAMIX is really silly. That Howard's father in "club" form. There are live versions of AC-DC's YOU SHOOK ME ALL NIGHT LONG and Cheap Trick's I WANT YOU TO WANT ME. I laughed so hard when I first heard the dialogue excerpts. One funny bone-tickler is where Giamatti angrily labeled Stern as "the motherf---ing antichrist". Totally awesome!

4.0 out of 5 stars The Howard Stern Rock album! Aug 21 2000
Format:Audio CD
It's about time that the king of all Media actually make a record, but it's not all Howard on this soundtrack to the best comedy of the nineties but a little help from his pals that makes this album a good musical collection.

On top of a lot of worthy rock tracks you get a series of good short clips from the film. Of course it would have been better had the clips but uncut and in their full form. It's not that they are edited to be clean. It's just that only teasing us with the first answer from "The Match Game" is just taunting. There are other great clips from the film like a new "Mama Look--A Boo Boo" poem. It's a good mix of comedy but could be more full.

The songs are all over the map in style from a rap rock peace combining LL Cool J with members of the Chili Peppers. Also worth mentioning is the father of Heavy Metal Ozzy with the industrial Type O Negative on "Pictures of Matchstick Men". It's a great combination of early heavy rock riffs and new sounds. "Tired Of Waiting For You" is a great cover courtesy of Green Day. A very mellow alternative rock surprise. All kinds of classic tracks like Deep Purple's unforgettable guitar anthem "Smoke On The Water" to the punk bombast of "Pinhead" by The Romanes. Don't forget a very special live addition of "You Shook Me All Night Long" by the rock gods AC/DC. Even Howard lends his vocal talents to the literal monster rock sound of Rob Zombie on the sharply poignant "Great American Nightmare". The Dust Brothers make 1997 their year by working rock tune for Stern alone on "Tortured Man". Another great writing and this time courtesy of Stern and sidekicks.

This is a good rock album but I think fans might want even more from Howard. If he was going to include clips, he could have put more of them and made them more full. Also, he should have chosen more "inside" stuff. "The Ben Stern Megamix" is great for fans that have heard Ben's songmanship for years, but not in "Club" form. It's great fun. I like the old rock hits and the reworking of others. Maybe the disc should have just been all like that and a separate one just with clips. This is a really good set, but Stern really can't please all here, but does a good job of keeping you interested.
