After using nothing but Edlund commercial tongs for years, I thought I would give these a try based on all the positive reviews. Yes, they are indeed miles ahead of most of the junk tongs that people have in their kitchen, but still fall far short of the real commercial grade tongs in terms of both construction and performance. The most striking difference can be seen in the photo that I uploaded. You can see that on the Edlund tongs, the tips are parallel throughout the "working area" of the tong, whereas the progressive tongs only touch at the very tips. This means that manipulating food, tossing a salad, etc with the Progressive tongs is a bit like doing it with a giant pair of tweezers. In contrast, the Edlund tongs feel like and extension of your hand and can be used to toss salads, flip burgers, or manipulate items in a sautee pan with confidence and without piercing the skin of delicate items. My advice - spend the extra money and buy the Edlund tongs - they last for many many years.
