different from the rest, Feb 11 2011
By Rachel Ramirez - Published on Amazon.com
This was a tough one and very different from the rest of the psych books, all of which I read. The writing style was different and I agree that Jules and Lassie are different as well.
I struggled with the separation of Shawn and Gus. It was traumatic for me I guess I just love their dynamic. the other psych books were more true to the format of the show.

Maybe the best in the series so far!, April 19 2011

Based on multiple negative reviews (both here and elsewhere), it took me a couple of weeks to get around to buying this, and a couple of months before I decided to read it. Let me tell you what a big mistake that was! IMO, it's quite possibly the best book in the series so far. I'm not going to give away any spoilers or plot-points here - buy your own copy! However, I will say that there was some pretty good witty back-and-forth dialogue between Shawn and Gus, and I thought Lassie was particularly well written. I finished it within 24 hours, which I only do when I'm completely hooked.
It does make extensive references to (and spoilers for) the previous book, A Fatal Frame of Mind, which I thought was by far the weakest book in the series so far (it took me about a week to plod through it). While it might be helpful to sludge through that one first, it's not necessary, especially if you don't care about the spoilers. However, chances are if you read this book, you're already a fan of the show, and probably the books, and most likely have read them all at or about the times they came out, anyways.

Don't know what to think?, Mar 10 2012

This was a strange psych tale. With Shawn and Gus broken up for the whole book it was fairly strange and almost depressing. The psych books are all slightly different from the show, but this one was really off. The reveal always tends to be a little rushed as well. Although I do find the series, including this book, entertaining.
