3.0 out of 5 stars Beverly D'Angelo gives us the bird July 24 2011

With the lame introductions, I could see why people would not go past the first 10 minutes. The only attraction is the quick flick of frontal lobes. This looks like the production will be a bunch of cheap puns.

In reality it is a bunch of cheap puns that are well delivered in a coherent manner. Just as you are going to say wait a minute where is the social redeeming value, you find you do not care. I am not saying that you will laugh out loud but you will be glued to the movie wandering just how far they will go.

I would say regardless of your taste in filming that you do not miss this movie good, bad or what not.

It is a simple story of an egghead anthropologist Tommy Chandler (Aron Eisenberg) exploiting sacred grounds. The negative Salvador Dali (Brion James) puts a cur wont Tommy's wife Pixie (Beverly D'Angelo) and turns her into you guessed it "Pterodactyl Woman from Beverly Hills". What becomes of the different relationships of family, friends, and national security? Will they just have to wing it?

I have been working on a screen play "Chicken of the Sea" and was surprised to find parallels on some of my best lines. I found a friend in Troma Entertainment [us "Almost 40 years of reel independence]".

Great stock footage. Well designed consumes. Believable characters. Good background music.

3.0 out of 5 stars a cult classic in the making Mar 17 2002
Format:VHS Tape
PTERODACTYL WOMAN FROM BEVERLY HILLS is a charming, campy gem from director Phillipe Mora and starring the wonderful Beverly D'Angelo.

Pixie Chandler (Beverly D'Angelo - NATIONAL LAMPOON'S VACATION, MAID TO ORDER) is the perfect Beverly Hills housewife, with the perfect husband, perfect children, perfect friends and perfect house...not to mention perfect sex life.

When her archaeologist husband accidentally comes under the wrath of eccentric witchdoctor Salvadore Dali (Brion James), the witchdoctor puts "the curse of the pterodactyl" on Pixie, transforming her into a grasping, over-sexed pterodactyl!

The search is on to find a cure....before Pixie starts giving birth...to an egg!!

Totally campy, probably D'Angelo's crowning moment comes in the scene where she struts in a Norma Desmond-esque feathered turban to the wonderful song "Blue Martini" (which, incidentally, was written by D'Angelo herself).

Great, if a little off-the-wall.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not very Troma-esque Nov 2 1999
Format:VHS Tape
I too am a fan of Troma films, and these 50th street production just aren't everything a true Troma should be. It has its funny moments... well, not extremely funny, but not enough to make me recommend this movie to non-Troma lovers. Whoever played the old Indian was amusing, and I like Beverly D'Angelo, and I was surprised to see her in a role like this. I also liked the film score, I'm a fan of movie music, and I'm sure we'll see the composer of this score in other productions. Anyways, if this is the last film you need for your Troma collection buy it, if you're looking for a well made film, skip it.
